If the group remains small, we should ride together. If more people sign up, we should break up into small groups. IMHO, groups larger than 3-4 are unmanageable.

This is an EXTREME RIDE for very experienced riders.

Cheers,
Will

Sounds like fun. What kind of bike?Could a Wee-Strom do it or would you need a true dualsport?Plan to get one of each in the next few months.

I think a wee-strom could easily do all but the 3 passes that I mentioned (tomichi, hancock and williams). And I'm looking into finding 3 other alternatives. Actually, a Hoosier(paved)/Boreas(dirt) Pass combo takes care of 2, and a run up to Trout Creek Pass(paved) after Weston would be a good snag for a more street oriented bike. Wilkerson(paved) and La Salle(dirt) could also easily be threaded in. That's the beauty of Colorado; we've got more passes than we know what to do with. Actually, I think most here know what to do with them...

hondo, are you sure?

Wow, great to see the interest! I chatted with Mike Kneebone about this a couple years ago, as did OutbackUFO, and there is definite interest from the IBA in making this a qualifying IBA ride.

Me, I'm just interested in doing it for fun. But I'll go ahead and try to pull together the minimum requirements for making this IBA-friendly.

Anyone have thoughts on Williams Pass? I've heard that the road is only open by the USFS during the month of August.

Cheers,
Will

I don't know anything about Williams, but I like the idea of some more difficult off-road passes to mix things up. 650 miles of paved and graded passes in a day wouldn't make for much of a challenge IMHO.

Would be cool if this was IBA friendly, as my bike could use a license plate frame...

Thanks for putting this together Will.

I will be watching this thread for sure, if you don't mind a midwesterner tagging along. I imagine you are thinking July or August?

I think Poncha, Monarch, Old Monarch would be better.

Williams is definitely out on anything but a real trail bike. Besides, it's only open a short time in August, as you said.

Tomichi, Hancock, Williams, Cumberland
How about Tomichi, Hancock, Tincup, Cumberland and that will all be on dirt.
