A friend sent me this link about the Reeve Electra that lost it's #4 propeller in flight back in the 80's- I recall it being in the news but never knew all of the details. It's a little long but it has a happy ending.

I used to rent a Warrior out of Riverside Airport in Wichita in the early 90's. They had four Swifts based there, an airplane with a somewhat dicey reputation. It was known as a bit of a widowmaker, but I suspect that's because they had good performance and did what you told them to do, for better or worse. As an aside, there was a long long list of mods available for the airframe. Enough to keep most owners pockets empty, at least.

Those Swifts are some beautiful planes.
I'd love to have one with a 180 hp Lyc, and a CS prop... |

Not sure if they are in the area anymore but a number of years ago when I had a plane, had friends that had planes and did all the airplane related stuff in the area with the local EAA chapter there was a retired couple with matching Swifts. They were members of the local antique chapter. Those were gorgeous planes, polished, 2 tone stripes and rarely did you see one without the other parked right beside it.
I gave up the expensive airplane hobby for the bikes but still look skyward.

The video doesn't play for me, but I saw it on the news. The SUV driver didn't look for plane traffic or stop at the STOP sign painted on the road. I can understand how the driver didn't see the Cessna, but the pilot should have been able to see the SUV and gone around. The runway threshold doesn't show, but it looks like he was low on his approach and would have touched down well before the numbers.
Our local airport has a gravel road that crosses behind a runway and there is a STOP sign on a vertical post along with a sign warning drivers to look out for planes. I worry about boats where I land, not cars. Edit: The video that was above disappeared, but it must have been the one about a Cessna 172 about to flare for touchdown hitting a SUV that drove across the end of the runway.
