Great grub today. Thanks for the heads up!

Where you headed? Tiger 800 friendly, or smaller bike required? I'm a dirt novice, so I wouldn't want to slow you down.

There wasn't any dirt riding for me yesterday evening. Yep, call me a poser & take away my ADV sticker. This is the first time I've turned my bike around due to road conditions. The stock Dunlop tires just don't like that slick brown dirt/mud & I wasn't sure how bad it would get on down the road.

Brown Hill Rd. ( 3912'39.42" N 8610'12.05" W )

At this point we hadn't seen any rain yet but we could hear thunder off in the distance and some of the roads we were taking were already wet. We made our way on down to Story before the sky above started looking ominous so we turned around there and headed back to Nashville. Being in the valley we didn't see the big black wall of wind & rain that smacked us in the face just before getting to the Mc Donalds there on 46.

We grabbed a bite to eat and waited there for probably an hour or better before it let up any. Then, there seemed to be a glimpse of light to the west so we geared up & headed on back to Indy. It was some of the worst rain I had ever ridden in and it never did stop until we were almost home... I hope anyone else that got caught up in that gully washer made it home safely...

P.S.> After getting home and checking out Brown hill rd. on Google I could see that the few mud puddles we had already ridden through and the creek, were we turned around at, seemed to be the worst section of the road. Kinda wish we would have pushed forward now?..

That rain was brutal last night but luckily not much wind blowing debris in the roads or hail. We wanted to go to Big Woods for dinner (and took the truck due to the weather) but when we got down there all of Nashville was without power. Ended up heading over to Pine Room Tavern just behind that McDonalds there on 46 where they still had power. That place was slammed with people! Didn't know it was a bunch of ADV'ers.

Yea, as we headed out at about 8:30pm we noticed there wasn't a single light on in downtown Nashville. No gas stations open, no street lights, nothing... The only other bike we seen at the Mcdonalds was another couple riding a Harley and evidently they were not ADV'ers as the guy was only wearing tennis shoes, shorts, and sunglasses... They attempted to ride along with us back up to Indy but quickly stop and turned around to grab a room for the night...

My ol' lady & I were still enjoying the ride even though we were both soaked to the bone. Biggest problem I had was visibility. Almost none at times and riding by the seat of my pants... I think I'm going to cut my windshield down a bit so I can look over it without having to sit up so straight. I think most of the problem I was having was due to the oncoming headlights reflecting off of the rain drops that were stuck to it...

Ooops, P.S.> One thing I thought was funny was all of the people in cages that had pulled over to get out of the storm. The Mcdonalds was packed full of them...

it's prolly for the best you didn't take on that crossing, especially after the rain we have had. the dead center of the xing there is a hole and certainly is the deepest part. if you turn a bit and go around the center it isn't as deep.

either way though... on your bike you would have been in trouble. but... good job on taking the rd less traveled!
