I think I'm going to hit Redbird tomorrow (hopefully the weather holds up). I'll be on my WR250R. Likewise, if anyone wants to join, that'd be cool. I've never been there before... looks like fun.

I'll drive down Saturday morning and hope to get there about 7~7:30am. It's about 21/2 hour drive from my house. I'll be on my WRR. Hope to see you guys. ;)

Some people try to turn back their odometers.
Not me! I want people to know "why" I look this way.
I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Try an Aprilia 450/550 Dual Sport. I don't think it has a real accelerator. Just an on/off switch. It's a rocket!

They had a reputation for stone reliability and Suzuki's direct lubrication system fed oil directly to the lower end bearings in the engine. Most oil injected two-strokes just fed oil into the intake tract. Most of these engines were piston port (not even a reed valve!!) and were incredibly simple to work on.

They fell from favor mostly because real dirt bikes were getting so good and improving all the time whereas the dually bikes remained technologically around 1970 and stayed that way. No longer needed as a basis for a dirt bike like they were five years prior they started to fade away around '75 and the EPA finally put the kabosh on them in the early '80's.

While far from perfect they made good power, were cheap to purchase and maintain and any ham-fisted clod could fix them. Totally outclassed off-road they still had wide, comfortable seats and would have been great for exploring the backroads. Back then it wasn't the cool thing to do, though.

The search for a garage queen TS goes on...
Everything you said is true. I bought a new '72 at Emde Suzuki in San Diego when I was in the Navy. I put a 3.5 gallon f'glass desert tank on it and rode the livin' heck out of it. That bike took some abuse! Then I got the stupid idea to kit it with a 322 sleeve/piston. Got about a thousan' more miles out of it when the jug split in two. I think I left it somewhere on the side of the road.

Heading up to Michigan this weekend to pick up a WRR:) Super excited! Nothing like buying a bike and looking at it for 4 months before you can ride it :-P
