I remember reading a review on the ReeVu a long time ago. I thought it was a neat concept, but I also had concerns about glare at night being an issue. I've never talked to anyone who has one of those to get a first hand account. Marketing can make almost anything sound good...

My Arai Profile is by far the best helmet I've ever owned, but riding on gravel or dirt, whenever there is the slightest bit of dust, I have to have my dirt helmet and goggles on. Since I wear contacts, if I get even the slightest bit of dust in my eye, it is ridiculously painful... Maybe one of these days I'll spring for that Lasik Eye Surgery...

I did opt for a very cheap AFX dirt helmet though. I think I paid around $89 for it brand new a couple of years ago. It fits me well and was cheap enough that I don't feel bad about banging it on rocks and trees...

I have to say that I do like the idea behind the dual sport helmet. I think you get quite a bit more airflow in them during the summer than a traditional full face. I also liked being able to ride to moto in the rain last time I went and being able to flip the shield down on the ride over, and then flipping it up and being able to wear goggles on the trails.

A good large duckbill does a lot to keep airborne mud clumps off your face and goggles. Ducking down makes riding into the rail or sun more bearable. The smaller classic visors that were worn with open face helmets did next to nothing, but I still want one...

I tried to use a visor vue back in the day.it made my eyes feel like they were blinking all the time and made me nauseated. They are legal in mi i know for sure.
We used pieces of milk jugs taped to our bell magnum visor, especially in the mud......those were the days.
I still like an mx helmet for dusty conditions.if i ride gravel roads i will use my afx39, especially in hot weather. Nothing seals your eyeport as well as goggles though.
So, i always have 3 different kinds of lids.

LBL 200 - Saturday Morning in the Mud!

What a mess... This is only the first few minutes. Others will follow with a couple of spills...

You will see lots of bikes struggling through the slop in this first few minutes though...

November Western Indiana ride November 8-13

A buddy and I are going to do a 5 day ride from Champaign Illinois over to the covered bridge area and then south to the Shawnee Forest, Cave in Rock and then wind our way North back towards home.

Does anyone have any tracks in Indiana that would be good to follow and places to see and eat. We will be hoteling and riding a TE610 and XRL650 so looking for unpaved routes as much as possible. Please PM me routes or tracks or post them here, your choice.

Thanks in advance!!! Brian

Have two helmets for sale. The first is a Shoei DS Hornet in size Medium and silver in color. The second helmet is a HJC Arena CL-X5 in size Large and green in color. Both are new helmets that simply do not get used and need to go. The Shoei retails for well over $500 and the HJC retails for right around $160.

The price for the Shoei is $200 + shipping and the price for the HJC is $40 + shipping. Local pick up is also an option--I am located in Brownstown, IN. The Shoei is priced at nearly $260 less than the best internet pricing I could find...it is a steal!

Here are pictures of both helmets.

Bump - still have these two helmets and they need to go...prices are lowered and they are a steal! Either of these helmets would make someone a great lid. Thanks.

Here are a few more from Saturday morning's MudFest!

Part #2 - Great shot of me helping to pick up a KLR with about 100 pounds of mud caked on it

Part #3 - Includes a shot of me getting cross rutted and sliding sideways up onto a log laying parallel to the trail. I was able to just step off the bike as it slid to a stop on the log without falling down.

Part #4 - Includes a funny stand still tip-over where I get my left leg trapped under the bike...

There will be a couple of more from the Saturday Morning MudFest once I find the time to put them together...

So I ordered some Coast Guard grade 3M reflective tape to run on my helmet once it comes in, and well, the tape beat the helmet. So I decided to add a bit to the front of the bike to make it a bit more visible.

Think I may add some to the handguards and fork guards as well, but that'll be after the helmet comes in. Man I'm itching to ride this bike...
