I want a freeride. I wish they would bring something sub 200lb here for a price that was comparable to the crap Chinese bikes that seem to be built almost as well as ones that cost 10X the amount. I would buy.

Witness the new Husky Terra which is only $500 more than a KLR.
That best not be a snide remark about klr's...

The Freeride is an exciting concept.

Found a site with a lot info and some images I haven't seen. It also says it won't be in the US, but I don't know either way. Anyway:

It's very skinny, or to quote a friend of mine, "as thin as piss on a hot rock".

Hmmmm a reliable, lightweight, trail bike that can be plated. For 10K I think I would rather buy the entire early seventies line up of Yamaha Enduros. They made them in about every size in 100cc increments. They don't have the suspension of the Freeride or some of the other options that the average rider doesn't need but hey 10K could buy a ton of upgrades. Why do these companies and much of the public think they have to reinvent the wheel? Motorcycle companies have been making these kind of bikes for over 50 years and some of them were even offered in orange! They may not be as shiny and flashy as a cool new KTM but you can work on the old Enduros with a rock and stick on the side of the trail if they ever did break which is highly unlikely.
Now somebody pull this vintage soapbox out from under me and slap it back underneath Woodsrats feet!

But the Randonne is only$5500,and you might be able to register one(But don't hold your breath on doing that in OrwellianUSA nowadays)

FX bike looked like it kinda sucked, selling point is "well, when you get stuck just pick it up" or "If it gets scary, just push"

Randonne would likely go almost anywhere a real trials bike will go.
