Sounds great. Looking forward to working on it and riding, but I gotta spend some serious time shoving crap from stable to make room!

Jesus, thank God you fixed that shimmy was downright scary to ride in!

Can't say it was a good use of your time though...even I got my KLX250 out and rode for several hours with Bill Super.

Back to garage today for Fantic trials project,Hey,I do have a little more Aluminum Welding for Mark,Got to replace some broken fins on the cylinder and cylinder head. Wondering if he needs me to tear it down completely or If I can just bring him the complete engine?

I installed a new drag link and turned all four rotors yesterday. That completely eliminated the steering wheel feedback I was experiencing under heavy braking.

Up next is a set of new OME shocks and maybe a 2" lift...

Some photos from the job...

Putting her up on the rack

Turning the rotors

Nice and true...

All done!

Took me about 2 1/2 hours working by myself to complete the entire job.

Monday I'll throw it up on the alignment rack and dial everything in to make sure the alignment is in good shape...

I'm very pleased with the results. I have no feedback in the steering under heavy braking at all.

I ended up taking about .004" off each rotor face to get rid of the warpage.

I'm a little spoiled... I'm a former shop teacher turned administrator. Having a set of keys to the shop has it's advantages .

I don't, however, have time to work on anything but my own stuff, and even that get's put off too long most of the time... Working on this doctorate degree in addition to holding down a full time job and being a dad and husband leaves little time to do this kind of stuff.

I do enjoy it when I get the chance. Always nice to return to my roots! I love the sense of accomplishment from finishing a mechanical task with success...

By the way, how did the part for the Jag that he welded up for you turn out?

You have to upload your pictures to an online hosting site like Photobucket, then link to those pictures by copying the image code into your post.

Yea, saw your post while in bar Sat night. Replied to craigslist ad from car in parking lot, told seller no question on price or condition, cash, pickup Sun morning, what more could he want?

Me thinks it will be a while before this one sees action, but l will be working on it. The dual range transmission is so cool.

Thanks for posting it to Indiana ride thread.

Great to hear, I've had a lot of luck in the last year on craigslist so I thought I'd pass this one on to a fellow inmate.

Jag worked out great!
I'm thinkin' I need to get him a gift certificate for a nice restaurant in town for all he's done for me!
Got the fin segments shaped and fitted, just need to be sparked into place, not much structural strength required.

BTW,If you do lift that Disco and want to go up in tire size I recommend Firestone Destination AT,Put them on my Grand Cherokee and they are stone quiet down the road, sooooo smooth, good winter traction. You'd never know I'm running 33 inch tires from riding inside. Not a High Zoot brand(Last I paid attention they were owned by Bridgestone) but get great reviews and are actually the least expensive big tire you can get.

Personally I'd track down some 16 inch rims and go with some 265/75r16,More sidewall height equals more comfort plus if you do take it offroad your rims will be that much farther from hitting.

No chance... The SLS on this thing rocks... I pull an 18' Enclosed trailer with this thing and that suspension is so much better than any coil spring suspension that I've ever been around.

Different strokes, for different folks I suppose, but I wouldn't swap it...
