No where in my comments did I even mention HD. I quoted statistics from government sites and none of them mentioned HD. The statistics mentioned cruisers (and I ride one, but not a HD, 58,000 miles in 6 years on my cruiser alone). I guess some people are thinner skinned than others and dont want to read and accept facts.

When I am going to park the bike for the day, night, week, month, or months, I turn the petcock position to off and let the bike run until the carb bowl is empty and bike dies on its own (I usually do this about 1/4 mile from my driveway, and I have a 600 ft driveway-only takes about a minute to empty once I park it).

When I go to start the bike, I turn the choke on, sit on the bike, turn the petcock position to on and rock the bike back and forth-side to side-3-4 times, then I press the start button, has always started in 2-3 cranks.

I learned this from another member of the klx forum.

If you are going to drill the starter jet, be careful, use the correct size-if you screw up-you are screwed, this jet is pressed in from the factory and getting it out and replacing it would be a PITA.

Of course I always fill the tank to max and pre-treat the gas with sea-foam before I store the bike for months.
You think if I drain the bowl I would have any luck? It's been a couple of months since I was able to turn it over.

Works every time on mine Tim,Get a Allen key set that has a "ball" end and just drain the carb before you even crank it, I rarely ride my Klixxer and this works well. If you struggle to get a standard allen in there you'll wear out the screw. I have a ball end driver I can loan you(I have two of the correct size) if I can remember I'll get it out of my garage and take it to work and you can stop by and pick it up. make sure your battery is fully charged too.
If you forgot where I work ask Jeff,I'm always bugging him to have Mark weld something aluminum for me.

BTW,I have to do this even though I usually run the local Alcohol Free premium gas.

Thanks Doug......Ill give a call and see if I can't get over to your shop. Once I see the tool you are talking about, I will get a set for myself.

By the way......I bought a DR the other day........nice little bike......just can't wait for the weather to warm up.

If you havent started it in 2 months, and didnt drain the bowl, you got a carburator to clean.
If you placed seafoam or any other gas treatment in the bike, you may be able to drain the bowl, and do the starting procedure I mentioned.
