Hmmmm. No whoop section. There's enough there to test suspension though.

Johnson357, if it's whoops you want, you should consider Badlands in Attica, IN. they've got 3 or 4 sections over 100 yards long each. Most riders there could show you where to find them if you don't know the place. Plus it would be sand, though I don't know if it's similar to the M1K sand you'll be in or not. It's soft sugar type sand at Badlands, probably finer and harder at the M1K? The other advantage to the place is that it handles the rain / wet / melt very well. it's always rideable there. But I don't want to pull you away from riding with the south boys, just throwing out the thought for you to chew on.

I second that, big time. I have done the Shane Watts Dirtwise riding school. It was excellent. Best if you're already a moderate dirt rider before going, but a newbie would benefit also. I think it was $300 for 2 days. I still refer back to it regularly and his teaching style is top notch, very logical approach. And watching him demo the skills to perfection....amazing and worth half the price of admission right there!

There is much better riding in Northern Michigan but the Lake Huron side of state is very nice with much less traffic, nice beaches, small towns, gravel roads for miles. We have a cottage we rent in vendors section, its 75 acres, some main wide trails and some singletrack. We had a dozer in the fall and I am setting up a trail along a creek then eventually in the creek also. Its a good stop if passing through especially when all the state parks are jammed packed and pricey.
We got some BMW riders in from Toronto, it could be planned into a loop around lake ride and on the way to UP. We are about 1 1/4 hr from Detroit and 25 miles North of Port Huron. thanks, Doug |

Plenty of room. What is nice is the main trail is a good one where you can drive a 2wd drive truck or car through and pick out a spot to camp. 2 nice harbors on Lake Huron are closeby, Port Sanilac 5 miles North and Lexington, MI 5 miles south. Good variety of riding, woods, gravel roads, singletrack. You can walk across street and walk on the beach , party store/bar, one mile away. Its nowhere near the riding of Northern Michigan but still a nice place for a weekend trip. I am heading there in AM for Easter weekend, bringing my KTM 250 sx, I ride miles on back roads, mx bike only, no lights or plates, no issues if you stay out of town or on gravel. A plated bike even better as gravel roads everywhere, you can ride to many scenic spots on gravel and ride into town for gas or lunch, so stay around camp or take a day trip, many options. The Husky would be ideal. see this link FMI; http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=564295 dougfromindy screwed with this post 03-28-2013 at 12:08 PM |

Mailed stickers to all who paid today...thanks
Paul I'm leaving the south side heading toward Café 58 because I'm not sure I remember exactly how to get to Moto Supreme but if it's real muddy there probably won't ride it much. |

So I put on a front tire and was lubing the chain and found the counter shaft seal was leaking. DRZ finally skipped a beat on me. Looks like it just started too. Luckily I had a seal kit on hand. Good to go.
