I went and found a seat for my wifes 883 sporty. Now she can haul one of the kids.

ET Chief, If you have a dog or kids.... a sidecar is a must. I have a 1200 suzuki bandit 1200 with a vetter tereplane sidecar. it is a blast.

Well, i finished some things on the bike this weekend. Here's what i got done:

finished the box (except for the lid)

The lid will be done before this weekend. the box is made of half inch angle iron and diamond plate aluminum. the ends are made of plexi glass because i ran out of the diamond plate stuff. BTW, that shit is sharp, and i found out the hard way...

it doesnt look that bad, but its deep.

I also wrapped the header and midpipe with some heat wrap:

the last thing i did was add some removable highway pegs:

All thats left to do is make some kind of a windscreen in the next couple of weeks and then brace the side saddle bags in the middle above the wheel. then we're off!!

What do you guys think?

Well, the box weighs about 5.5 lbs. its actually pretty light. the dimensions are 24 inches long X 10 inches wide X 12 inches high. I dont think I'm gonna carry a ton of stuff, so I might not even use it to its full capacity. it makes for a good little back rest though too!

fish tank

That is a big ass box. Are you doing any trails or anything off pavement?
I would be afraid of a crash and completely destroying that box and myself

Then again I have a tendancy of going a little too fast when I shouldn't be.............but I never crash.

Yeah, i never crash either.... hahaha. We are doing probably 95-100% pavement stuff since my buddy is on a sportster. i would guess that we might get off the road a little bit only to pull off and camp in the middle of the dessert or to venture around the grand canyon some when we get there. HAHA, my dad said it looks like a fish tank. especially when i siliconed all the seams to make it waterproof.

Hey Chris, i'm leavin out on the 24th of July for evansville. then the real trip starts the morning of the 25th...cant wait!! Hey, stop crashing and take some pointers from rick!!

I like the highway pegs there JSCOMPTO, making a set like that for my KLR, just finishing the welding on my new steel skid plate. I found some old DeWalt plastic kit boxes that work awesome for side bags, very light, but huge, 24x16x9, also put a rubbermaid box on the tail, pics coming soon.

Did you have any luck finding parts for that? There's a vintage place in Ohio that deals strictly with O.E.M., N.O.S. and just a few aftermarket parts for 1959-1969 Hondas. I found the guy when looking for parts for a '66 Honda Scrambler a couple years ago.
