Unfortunately this road is now a "handicap access hunting road". Another way that good ol Brown County is shutting down awesome roads. I cant tell you how many times I have been jamming along a great road in that area and then all of the sudden what do you know it turns into handicapped hunting access...

I used to live on Tulip Tree in a nice little hippie built cabin was my favorite home so far. It makes me sad when I think back to how awesome it used to be out there. Anyways I have now bought property on the other side of the commune. I would suggest riding down 135 from indy make right on 45 ride through Helmsburg to Indian Hill and then take that to Salmeron then turn right onto Lanam Ridge Road take that to Dubois Ridge Road follow that til you come down the hill to Green valley road that will take ya back to 46 towards Nashville. That is a good 45 minutes if you like to take your time and look. I wish I could meet ya and go tomorrow. But I get to drive Carrie to her weaving guild thing.

How much more fun are those roads than helmsburg heading out of nashville? I haven't been or don't remember being on either but that was a route I had planned when going up there.

I'm sorry to hear scarce o fat is now closed to moto traffic. However, right in that area but across IN46 is some decent riding. TC Steele road turns to gravel after a while, and then connects with Gilmore Ridge Road. That later splits into Gilmore and Deckard Ridge Road (both gravel). From that point they both peter out eventually, but not for a good while. They basically both end up down by the lake when they cease to be passable. On your way back out of there you can take Dewar Ridge Road, a mix of gravel and paved. It also stops by the lake, and even offers a lakeside parking area right about where it turns into Crooked Creek Road. Crooked Creek takes you back out to 46, just West of the old Ski World property. My buddy Jim, who I think may be a new inmate, showed me this route a few weeks ago. Nice to have that much gravel right around the corner from Bloomington. Thanks Jim!

You can choose what ya want but helmsburg road blows. It really is nothing special and drivers tend to be left of center and going fast. But hey just my opinion.

Good to know. It was just a more direct road that wasn't 135 so added the dots. On coming traffic left of center seems common when riding around here.
