I still really like those old 160's and 305's.

From Mt. Lebanon (near St. Clair Hospital) until migrating to N. California in 1975. Rode at "the Flats" near Crafton, and later at the stripmines near Imperial, PA.

First car='61 (Willys) CJ-5 with Hurricane Four, 134.5 cu in F-head, intakes in the head, exhausts in the block.
2nd car='67 (Kaiser) CJ-5 with 225 cu in Buick 90 degree V6. Odd uneven firing order, but torquey and fast. Warn overdrive worked even in reverse.

My gateway was a bike that I never actually was allowed to ride solo on (was only 7). But I rode for hundreds of miles sitting on the gas tank of this bike.

An early 70's Taka by Rockford. Had a 100cc two stroke Bridgestone engine in it and Dad and I rode that bike every day to check the cows out in the pasture.
It was a pretty rare bike and he had to give it up when parts became hard to come by but I'll never forget the sound of that bike.

Two movies. "The Dirt Bike Kid" and "Dirt Bike Stars". Didn't matter at all that I didn't have a motorcycle yet, I was already ruined.

That looks like the touring version!
Only slightly similar to the one that Jeff Ward (?) was wheelying in the original 'On Any Sunday'.

In the early 80's, I used to ride my bike down to the Honda shop with friends. I think it was an XR80 (just like the one below). The owner said I could ride it if I brought a Parent. Mom said no... I was too young to understand that we didn't have that kind of money. So I never even rode it... but that was it... I was hooked.

A year later, I went on a camping trip with a friend's family... and their three dirt bikes... and their friends (like 25 of them) and their dirt bikes.

My mom was not only a little poor, but completely against motorcycles.

In 1994 I bought my first bike (I had turned 18 and lived on my own). 1989 Katana 600. Totalled it 3 months later in a canyon.

Now I have a 250 Ninja (mostly my wifes... her gateway drug). A 620 Ducati Monster (I am enjoying it until my wife is ready for stronger drugs). A VFR that I ride in the canyon (my 4th vfr... I seem to like them). And the main bike is the Veestrom... (I think I have about as much money in farkles as the actual bike was new... okay, not quite but you get it.)

I am hooked for life... even with four incredible bikes in the garage, I can see a triumph thruxton, a dr400sm, an xl650 or dr650 and maybe a few others in the future.
