Yea I know. There was a hitch with the seat cover too. We pushed the party until the 11th. His birthday is the 8th but it is in the middle of the week so he is cool with that. He still has no idea about the bike.

I'm waiting on some shipping information so I can sent the seat cover AND the seat to get recovered. The company is stepping up and recovering the seat for me and shipping it back no charge for the trouble of getting a cover that did not fit. Thats is good but they do not think I will have it back by the 11th. I will have to think of something soon for sure.

As soon as I get the seat back and installed I will post pics and then the surprise pictures for sure.

You might consider leaving that seat on the bike as is... give it to him that way while buying this one and havint it be the one fixed up and then shipped to ya after the birthday party.

Well it has been a while since I posted up. It is his birthday today and the bike is still waiting on the seat. It is still in AZ getting worked on since the covers they sold me would not fit correctly. At least they are springing for the repairs. The party will be on Saturday but I do not think the seat will be back in time, we shall see. He brought home a bad grade on his report card so he cannot ride his PW50 for a while and keeping up with consistency on punishments if I gave him the XR he still would not be allowed to ride it. I know I'm a hard ass about it but I hope it will make him a better kid.
The bike has been picked up by a friend and I had my son help load it into a pick up truck. So he really thinks the bike is gone. It is actually in the neighbors garage. The bike took a trip across town for 12 hours then came back and was unloaded next door after he left for school. When the seat comes in I will install it and then set up a way to give it to him.

I will post up completed bike pics and the moment of giving it to him.

Special thanks to:
NCTrailBoss - for the handlebars, grips and front brake cable.
TruckinThumper - for the front axle and spacers.

You guys helped make this happen for my son.

Ray

FWIW, I agree with how you are handling this. My boys have the same kind of requirements to be able to enjoy riding, they have to stay on top of their school work, etc. It will make getting the XR just that much better and he will learn responsibility too. Great job!
