I thought about one of those, but it would get in the way of my oil cooler setup. Besides I don't do enough crazy stuff to need engine side armor.

I had one on mine. Gone now due to parting out. It was extremely solid, if overpriced.

It is kinda steep... My local dual sport shop says that I can get a Ricochet skid plate for about $80.

Just picked this up Saturday

Its an 06 with 1019 miles on the clock.

Took it for a couple of short spins around the block and a short run in the woods. It's a 2 wheeled tractor!

This will be my wifes bike. We are working on setting it up for a trip to Big Bend in March. So far I have bark busters installed, and I am looking into soft luggage options.

I had a set of Dirt bagz on a DR a couple of years ago, and they were great, but I would like something waterproof.

So far these are the options:

Dirt Bagz...
Wolfman E-10s...
What other soft luggage fits?

Nice TW.
The fun factor is off the chart.

then i moved on to changing the brake pads...got the rears on just fine...the front set weren't right (damn you ebay)...

since i couldn't finish that i decided to get the bars on there...waiting to get it on the ground before i set the bars and tighten everything and put the new mirrors on...

Sweet!

It looks a lot like mine. I picked up an 06 with 940 miles on it last August. You're going to love it!

Since you're in TN you might want to check out this link . We're having a TW rally in Townsend, TN in May.

Nice! She's going to love it.

As for bags--check out the Admiral's photos. If they don't have to be pretty, there are lots of options.

Point37--Thanks for the update photos.

Thanks!

I ordered the happy trails rear rack, and a 2.8 gallon Clark tank. I will combine that with a 1 gallon rotopax, and that should extend my range to ~225miles.

Happy trails does not provide a weight rating for the rear rack. I believe that it bolts to the rear sub frame, and the turn signal mounts. Who is running this rack, and how stout is it? I need to be able to carry light camping gear up to maybe 10-15 lbs.

I have a line on a 1991 TW with under 500 miles on it.
The asking price is $2300.00 which is silly, and I know its not good for a bike to sit unused a lot, but I would hope the price would come down a bit. Quite a bit.
Its been for sale for a while.

I am a bit torn though, as I have somewhat limited time to ride and having 2 bikes is not going to make it easy to pick which one to ride.
Tear around road race style on the TU250 or dirt ride the TW200?

A bit more than silly. I paid that for an 06 with front and rear racks, ProTaper bars, Jimbo windshield, and a box of spare parts. A member on the TW forum just bought a new 09 for $3,000.

The bike you are looking at has basically been sitting for 21 years. Assume that all seals and gaskets will need to be changed and that any cables are probably seized. Depending on how/where it was stored the fuel tank may be rusted internally as well.

It's a heck of a find for a low mileage TW, but it will need some work before it can be ridden.

I agree. I picked my 00 for $1500 with a little over 8k miles and I thought that may be a little too high but there aren't too many used ones for sale around here and I had to have it. The only modification was a clarke tank.

The local dealer here has an '11 with about 500 miles on it for $3800. I bought my '03 for $1700 and it came with a box of sprockets, chains, spark plugs, and air filters. Might want to shop a bit more!
