Looks like a good way to carry extra fuel, good work.

Hello and Happy New Year all. I just added an '05 TDub to my little stable. I have DMV problems here in Cali 'cause I bought the bike in AZ and it has less than 7500 miles on it. DMV rejected the paperwork after I thought I'd gotten it registered thru my AAA office. I think I read somewhere on this forum someone alluding to a CHP inspection to confirm it's a Cali model. Can anyone confirm this with their own experience and any DMV form I might need to download before I head over to the CHP, if indeed this is the case? BTW, I researched the VIN and engine # to determine that it is a 50-state model. Thanks much in advance. Homemade Bob

If it is a 50 state there well be a smog canister on the right side frame under the tank.
Mine is a 50 state.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved. Hell, some of the places Iíve been there werenít even roads!

Cali DMV issues

ToyAnvil. Yes, I've already confirmed that my '05 is indeed a 50-states machine using the VIN and engine #'s for that confirmation. And it does have the cannister intact. Just wondered if anyone here had undergone a similar DMV hassle. Thanks guys.

I think only WCB(west coast bikes) have the canister?...never did understand Cali.'s BMV/DMV etc.?.Since yours has the canister, what's their beef?. Good luck.

Howdy All,

Did a bit of deep snow riding today, the chain worked well.

The mighty Tdub gets high mark on the mountain on this part of the ride.

Started building a motor guard/skid plate today, I got most of the tubing welded up and patterns for the aluminum inserts done.
Here it is so far.

Very nice Tony! like the way you left room to remove the oil filter cover for service.....and the tubular ends appear to stick out just enough to give a bit of protection to the cases!.....I like it!.

Cali DMV issues

Frog, the issue with the Cali DMV is that the bike was bought with an AZ title and has less than 7500 miles. 7501 miles on the clock and there would be no issue regardless of being either a 49 or 50 state bike. I didn't make the rules..........just trying to find out how to get my exemption. HomemadeBob

The 7500 miles should only apply to a bike that is NOT a 50 state bike, you need to talk to a supervsor at DMV or go to another DMV.

I'm confused. What has mileage got to do with anything?
