Headed up to Port Huron this Friday from Alabama. Should be in the cold belt by Saturday afternoon and rolling into the Flint area by mid Sunday afternoon. How are the road conditions? I will be suited up with full heated gear so short of snow on the road I should be good to go but if I remember right the pot holes can be a mofo after a hard winter worth of plow action.

If were all luck maybe some of this 80deg weather we have here in Bama will follow me!!

And with that... I just got off the phone with Gerbing after ordering a set of boot and pant liners. This should keep me nice and warm for what looks to be a wet few days on the road.

They just changed the precipition chances to 60% for Sunday, 40% for Monday and 30% for Tuesday ... so Monday and Tuesday you might not get wet.

But then again .... it is Michigan!

In a sick way I hope to see some rain as I have the Aerostitch Transit suit and still have not run it thru it's paces with a long ride in the rain. Then I would be able to do a review I have been holding off on.

Wow

You are the man ! I am hoping to ride this weekend with a friend but I really need 50 degrees. I need to get some electric gear I guess!!

If I can ask what brings you to MICH from Alabama this early ?

I grew up in and around PH area; so I plan on a visit with my parents before throwing the bike on a plane to head over to Europe around mid April. I made this trip last year but it was end of April when I left and I still froze my ass off when the sun went down as I was passing thru Flint.

I tired to man up for about 30 miles before I was forced off the road due to cold and put on the heated jacket and gloves. It must have taken me 20 minutes standing in the gas station to stop shivering. Lesson learned there. So with the colder temps I'll have the full heated gear suit on from head to toes. The Gerbing stuff is so good you can ride in sub zero temps and still feel like your wrapped in a blanket on the couch.

Im happy to say the heated gear worked like a champ. I was able to make it all the way to Indiana before I had to put the heated stuff on. At the State line on 69 I blew a fuse. I only had a 10 amp fuse installed and I needed a 15amp since I added the boot liners and pants.

You sure know when a fuse blows it went from nice and toasty to holy crap its cold in 3 seconds. lol So I pulled over and gassed up and changed the fuse and was back in the game. The temp on the ride up was a steady 39deg for the whole 300 mile ride to Port Huron.

I hit a few snow showers but noting that was sticking; as the roads were nice and dry. I'll be headed to Canada in a few days and Im keeping my fingers crossed that the rain holds off. With this heated gear I think you can add another 3 months of riding up here easy.

That is awesome that you made it safely.

i rode up to the Bay City boat launch and i could FEEL the drop in temps as soon as i got within a half mile of the water. but it was still a nice ride.

i really like my new bike. but it is hard to do the speed limit on it. hahaha

Did some riding in Gladwin today on the XR and took a little trip down to Beaverton to a house I'm interested in afterwards on the EX250. :)

Hey guys I'm in well if there's ever a "in" I have a KLX 250 that I tool around here on. ( Avoca ). I have a cabin in Grayling that we can ride out of if a two tracking group ever develops. I just put the sleds away last week so I won't even touch the KLX till it's 55 out.

grilled cheese on homemade bread, potato soup and hot chocolate.
