We have two versions of the Mitas E09 available... The normal one and the Dakar version... The Dakar version have the yellow stripe. The Dakar version is a little more expensive but is suppose to last a little longer...

Latest round of mods. MTC single silencer, DNA stage 2, PCV, custom undertray and tail tidy to take advantage of the space that's not full of exhaust and allow me to actually fit stuff under the seat.

The XT660Z is one of my favorite bikes. As a Dakar owner in the US I have always lusted over another competitor than the KTM 640. The Tenere is one of the very few bikes that can survive ascetically w/o a beak/fender and I love my BMW Beak. Although it shares the weak suspension w/the dakar (not sure why either never went to USD adjustable forks and rears) it has awesome dual disc and a killer looking frame. It handles close if not better than the dakar on/off road and it's a shame the US didn't bring it in w/the Super Tenere. Feeling Triumph may have something up their sleeve since BMW resurrected its Dakar/Sertao standard GS model. Hoping the Tenere shows up here wi/USD forks, adjustable rear and well, nothing else!

buying xt660z
Hi guys! I'm the owner of Aprilia Pegaso 650 i.e. for 3 years and I'm going to order xt660z with ABS next week. I did not find better forum to ask a couple of questions regarding the bike.
1. The original Yamaha Side Case mounting Kit does not seem very strong. How does it feel if the bike falls? The same question regarding Original Side Cases. Are they ok ? Or it is better to order third party side cases ? 2. Why doesn't Yamaha recommend to use Top Case and Side cases simultaneously? 3. I've found the guard from Hepcko und Becker http://www.adventuremotorcycleparts....T502-405-00-01. Does anybody use this? How it is? 4. How does the ABS switched on|off ? 5. What is better - the oriinal hand guards with windshield or some from third-party vendors? That's all distrubs me for a moment and I need maximum information till Monday, so thanks in advance for your answers. Looking forward to show you my Tenere Andrew :) |

I would say the original mounts would likely survive a crash, but the cases... probably not. They look the business, but in reality are plastic covered with a thin decorative aluminium plates. I managed to kick off a corner by just mounting the bike carelessly and brushing the left had top corner with my boot. The whole corner came off. If you plan on riding places where crashing is a real danger and you really need the cases to survive anything thats thrown at them get some real aluminium panniers OR soft cases/bags. If I had to buy bags for the bike now, I would probably go for something like these --> http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Expedi...ddle_bags.html. Crashing with soft bags puts a lot less strain on the mounts than big aluminium panniers and they probaly will not brake after a crash. 2. Why doesn't Yamaha recommend to use Top Case and Side cases simultaneously? Never heard of this. |

I see on the UK Yamaha website that they don't want a top case being used at the same time....
I have www.ardcases.co.uk luggage on mine....welded aluminium seams and powder coated...I 've heard too that early Yamaha box locks broke...don't know if they've fixed it yet I also have Acerbis hand guards on my moto.... Have a look at www.xt660.com and see what's what...there's different sections covering all aspects of the moto :) .

Ass-covering. I've done thousands of miles with the original top and side cases full, plus extra stuff strapped on them. It's fine.

Same as 80 or 85mph top speed "limit" or 10-18lbs weight limit on all top cases, or a 60mph
speed limit that I have on my windscreen now.
