2010 XT660Z Tenere tool kit

I picked up my Tenere today, lovely piece of kit. Only rode it 50 miles from the garage to home before I started to farkle it though. Wheels are off ready for me to fit a set of MITAS E09's on, put a touratech rear rack on and started to put my GPS mount in etc.

Really looking forward to getting some miles under my belt on it.

One thing I have found out, that I know I should of checked for at the garage was the toolkit. Alas, removed the seat today to find the toolkit has gone walkabout.

Does anyone have a list of whats in the tenere tool kit as standard? Also, what would you add to it? I have a kriega tool roll that I can stock up and use with the bike. Any info, and experience gratefully received.

Don't worry, the standard toolkit is useless anyway.

You need...

- 14mm hex key for the front spindle
- 6mm hex key for the pinch bolts on the forks
- 22mm socket/spanner for the rear spindle
- 10mm and 12mm open ended spanners to adjust the chain.
- 4mm hex key to get most of the bodywork off.
- 13mm and 17mm sockets and 5mm hex key to change the oil.

You can pretty much take the whole bike apart with those tools - at least anything you're likely to do away from home. Plus tyre changing kit.

Yes the oem toolkit is lacking a few key items. The only things you may miss from the kit are the special tool to adjust the rear suspension and the spark plug socket. Get a hex wrench for the front fork preload adjustment too. Allthough lugging it around is probably unnecessary.

Thank you guys, these suggestions are very useful.

However, if somebody can tell us what's in the original toolkit, it would also be helpful. I have the feeling my toolkit misses some bits

I heartily agree. I would buy one in a heartbeat or less. If anyone knows how I would like to know if a mere human can import one or would it be so costly in emissions that it is not feasible?

I don't reckon that emissions would be a problem, it's the most fuel efficient bike I ridden, although noise might be an issue with the superb Akros fitted I'm thinking the demand might be just too high in the States for this bike

i'll have one for sale here in the states (NV) very soon fully loaded ready to ride the world or to starbucks

it has a UK registration paperwork so you would be responsible for the import paperwork and all relevant fees

its pretty simple, put bike on center stand, turn on and fire it up, make sure the front wheel is touching the ground and the rear wheel isn't, engage it in gear, because the rear is spinning and the front isn't in about 30 seconds or less the computer will throw up and error code and turn off the ABS because it thinks there is a problem.

when you stop and turn it off it will reset itself back to ABS on until you do the same thing again, if you turn the kill switch off the ABS should still stay off but remember the headlight stays on so don't leave to long and you are running your battery down at a good rate
