Photo Tag - Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky

Someone else complained that the central tag always stays too far north, so I thought I would get a new game started. I'm going to kick it off with a file photo because I'm not really going anywhere cool this weekend.

New Tag Game

Hey thanks. That looks like an interesting tag. Now if we can just spread the word.

Are you sure this is still standing?

It was as of April last year. It looks like this guy just did some photos of it:

Wow!!

What a piece of history. And a great TAG! Knowing how slow cities move in their bureaucratic morass I would guess you are right. It's still there. But not long for this world......Thus making an even greater TAG.

It's a really fun place to explore. I didn't go into any of the buildings, but many of the original buildings including the hospital (first floor now in use for commercial storage), some housing/dorms, PX, theater, fire station, White Hall, and a couple other big-uns are still standing unrenovated/unused. There's also a power station that I believe has been re-purposed (there were vehicles outside when I was there). The original RR is here: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=877055

I will probably go back again this summer with the new camera.

On the former Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, IL.

They have a small air museum.

Hey Spaceman,
I've lived in the area for 40 (gulp) years and this was the first time that I was ever at Chanute.
Thanks

NEW TAG

This cottage was very important in Illinois politics. It is debatable, but you could say it was crucial to the nation's politics. The cottage is worth the tour, especially if the big house behind it it is open too. Ask.
Anyone know where this place is?

I have a friend that did his student teaching in that town in the 1970's

I've been to the town, but never been inside the cottage.
