Oh Shit!

The guy above is broke down in a bad spot. It sounds like a lot of time and money will be spent. I was very lucky with my trans fail. If you haven't seen the story, here is the link:

A locked up motor, as a result of loose bolts or shattered gear, definitely presents potential harm to the ride's safety. And still I have not heard of a recall nor of a single case when those issues were addressed by a warranty or good will of Suzuki.
Strange, in car industry, recalls happen all the time on far less dangerous grounds.

Nobody stands up to them so they don't bother- follow the money.

If it happens to me and I have the money, I'll sue. I won't sue for my profit, but rather to make it cheaper for Suzuki to fix the problem then to keep paying out on the string of lawsuits that will follow

To you guys who have had the failure--were you in 3rd when it happened or another gear?

I was in 2nd gear. The GPS trace shows I was climbing a rise at about 35kph. 15/43 gearing.

I only assume I was in 2nd due to the speed and that I was 2/3rds up an incline and getting ready to stop for a photo at the corner.

If it was in 2nd, then the shift fork must have gone first in my case.

Sounded like the chain had come off, but no such luck...

2005 with 18,900 miles. 2012.

Felt something was wrong...took it around the block once more and bam. Locked up at pretty low speed.

Haven't gotten the cases split yet, but I am pretty sure this tells the tale:
