What A Weekend!

Hat's off to Geoff, Britney, Brad, Lloyd, family members, Cannonshot
and the countless others who made CADVR '09 a huge success (IMHO)!
It was hands down the best event I have attended! Can't wait 'til next
year.

sheldon (home and recovering...)

CADVR rally pics...

Scary, those are some incredible pics...You definitely are a "pro" when it
comes to photos.

I should have taken more but I guess I was too busy riding. The few I did
take can be viewed here...

That has nothing to do with how the bike looks, thats just the seat that does that.

Just ordered one.

They are having a weekly special on the dualsport rally model in charcoal. $50 shipped!

Being a cheapass KLR rider I had to go for it.

Make sure to thank them for sponsoring the rally in their special instructions/notes box.

Great comments and pics of the rally folks. Speaking for Jerry (Dualhabit) and myself, this was a total blast for we southern boyz! We Left Louisville at 5:30 Thursday and took the hard road nor't.

We camped at a great WI state park, Hartman Creek near Waupaca Thur. night...

Off Friday AM after a big WI breakfast...

Took back roads to 22, 55 & 32 to the rally.

After setting up camp we loaded one of Cannonshots routes and took a little ride...

We popped off the dirt road, crossed the hwy. and Jerry plunged down this snow machine trail...

This grass was chest high. I walked it first in case some birch log was going to take us out.

Jerry stopped just short of this marshy area and wisely decided to turn around. We had to take the cases off the GS to get it turned around...

Beat it back to the rally for some of the dark WI suds...

Jerry has all the brains, so he's a little shorter than me. He's a VERY serious road and mountain biker and is an incredible athlete. He can really handle that big gs...

Saturday dawned foggy and wet and we were riding with Klay & friends up to the UP...

Ms. NOTscarysharkface...

Finally figured out why there's markers on top of hydrants. We usually only get a few inches of snow in my world each winter.

Lunch stop in Ontonagon...

Ron from Oklohoma...

We had to try a local Yooper specialty, the pasty. Very tasty, but down home we'd probably put red eye gravy or enchilada sauce on it...

We stopped along Superior so we could dip our toes...

Back in camp Jerry had the great idea that we get a room at the motel so we could be all packed, well rested and ready to go for our '750 mile iron butt lite' back to Kentucky Sunday morning. Like I said before, Jerry has the brains of the group.

I'd like to thanks all the door prize sponsors also. I have one of the Alaska Leather Buttpads and they are the real deal. I got mine this early summer before a 1400 mile ride down home. They really worked for this boy. Think the pad was what kept my ass from falling off in Illinois on the long ride home. I also burned one of the Buttpad strap connectors and Barb at Alaska Leather sent me a whole new strap assembly at no charge. That's what I call taking care of your customers. I'm also going to shop the other sponsors.

Headed home Sunday AM...

Please note us getting ready to pass a Harley in trailer...not that there's anything wrong with that...

Back home 15 hours and 750 miles later...

Thanks again Bonebag & friends for organizing the event (fantastic potato salad mom!). I really enjoyed meeting new friends and hearing about their epic rides. Ride safe Joe from SF and Okie Ron - The Kalamazoo Krew were great - Mr. & Ms. Scarysharkface and their awesome images - Klay for the great ride to Superior - Econobomb rocked. A special thanks to my riding partner Jerry for suggesting this adventure. Hope to see you guys on the road again soon!

Peace,

Anyone else notice the happy dog in the background? The one going for the last drop of beer at the bottom of the glass?
