I am a bit of a 'fraidycat when it comes to downhill curves with lots of loose gravel (PTS from a fall early in my riding career ) and EmmBeeDee does get a bit sick of having to walk back and ride my bike so we hope to find fairly easy routes so we can both have fun.

Thanks all for the feedback.

Is Skootamatta Road really just that bit alongside the 41 north of Cloyne? Google disagrees with Mapart for the names (some great names in there, like Shabomeka!) and I don't have my Backroads Mapbook here at work.

We are leaving Friday morning after the dogs are dropped off at the Spaw for the weekend. So we'll have one day without all our gear on the bikes. Can't wait!

Maybe some day. I'm 'in training' for next year's RR so I can do more of it without being too much of an impediment on the trail .

I'm working up to it gradually!

skootamatta comes off 41 and loops back ,but there is a turn off to the west which may be called hughes landing rd that goes over to weslemkoon lk rd south of gunter.it has the odd loose sandy section but is not hard.

Tire changing

So after much sweating, cursing, lube and jerry-rigged bead breakers I'm giving up on replacing my rear shinko 244. Let someone else change it, the only thing left to me would be a saw at this point. Wheelsport says $50 bucks a wheel, anyone know of some better offers out there?

There's a place called Black's Corners Tire, near Carleton Place that'll do it for $20.

Try any of the usual tricks? ie sledge hammer, kick stand, riding with no air in tire...I also find that it helps to squirts some WD around the bead.

Don't let it beat you! Never surrender!
