I would think it was Murphy showing up for our vacations.

Called Jesse from the middle of nowhere to validate my assessment. I tried the connect/reconnect thing based on his input as well. Worked for about another 9 hours. However, by the next day during another stop, the bike would not start. This is when I tried mine on her bike. Luckily we were in a build up area then. I went and bought a new battery. My goal was to enjoy our trip and not waste anymore time doing trial and error stuff.

I hope Mr Murphy does not plan to accompany us on our trip around Lake Superior next month...

Cheers

I had to go to Brockville today and on the way home I decided to use Scotch Line from Merrickville going East. The ride was fun but the Deer Flies were horrendous! Every time I slowed I had hundreds of them around my head, after they'd slipstreamed in my wake. Wow, that's enough to make you panic.

You can't outrun them unless you're going much faster than trail speeds. The way they surround your head when you stop is eerie. You can even see it in the video I took.

They are always bad in the dog days of Summer. I remember one day last year when Stephanie and I went through Marlborough and had the same swarms around us.

10 seconds of my ride today, when I slowed for the railroad tracks on Scotch Line. It's amazing to see the Deer Flies around my head...

Makes me wish for Winter. Or Fall, anyway.

I dunno, Carl. I recall Marlborough forest being like that in July last year. It's scary. I don't know what I'd have done if the bike quit or I fell off. At one point I was feeling them crawling down the back of my neck, inside my jacket, while I was moving. Argh.

I don't ever remember seeing them like that. Mind you I have never been in Marlborough forest either. We used to have lots of enduros up north of Seven though were they should be bad and never saw them like that.

That's incredible... those buggers are relentless. I'm curious if anyone has tried double-sided tape on the back of your helmet, jacket collar? Not that it would help much in that situation...

Weather has been exciting lately...some pretty impressive winds and rain on my way home. Dark as night, pretty cool..
