23s have been obsolete for a few decades... heh.

Nice looking Ss there though. the 500 would be big fun, I think.

If the 23s keep getting more scarce and more expensive, I fear I may have to relace the front hub to a 21, and maybe even drop my rear to a 17 to try and keep the steering geometry right.

wonder if the 1982 21" front wheel with the double leading shoe would drop right in.

guys -
I'm no longer able to post on http://forum1.aimoo.com/XLBoard
Maybe it's yet another sign that the XLboard is nearly dead.

I am logged in and can read posts, but the reply button is gone.

I don't think I said anything offensive! ;)

Anyhow, I know some Inmates post over there, so please let me know if the site is broken right now, or if I have an issue with my account (and who/how to contact admin to fix that).

thanks XLers!

I can't find anyone saying one way or the other, but I presume the Cheng Shin probably isn't DOT approved?

The XLBoard has some serious issues, members that joined during certain periods are not in the members list (myself included) and guest and new members are not allowed to post. My guess is that if you are not in the "members" list it views you as a guest. I've tried to contact the board owner (Geoff aka: Old Rice) to no avail. All this seems to be because Aimoo, the host, was globally shut down because someone started a pedophile forum and they indiscriminately cut huge blocks of users to try and eliminate the problem would be my guess. Anyway, the board goes nowhere forward from where it is without the owner of that board getting involved, so yea unless he reappears from where ever he is that board may be at best a static reference library, or at worst a valuable resource that simply vanishes.

As it is it is lost a huge amount of the little momentum it had. My suggestion would be to start threads here, and if they are specifically related to the old Honda XLs, link to them in posts from this thread since it seems to be the catch all XL thread on ADV.

Thanks Skorpio.

Maybe someone with posting privileges can let the XLboard guys know to move the discussions over here. I realize this thread is more about stock/daily drivers than high performance race 350s... but hopefully we can keep the stoke going here.

The xl board makes me sad... I tried to "archive" as much as I could when I saw the "we are dying" announcement, but its not really in any useable form. Basically I did a few searches on specific common things and copied them to a word file. Got most of the cool articles and stuff too, but there is still a HUUUGEE wealth of info there that is going to be lost if the forum ever does die.

Does anyone know if I can use valves from any other Honda in my '73 XL250 Motosport? I see Kibblewhite do valves for some really old Hondas like the CB350 and even the CB175, but not the XL 250. I'd really like to go oversize by maybe 1mm.
Does anyone know of any valves that will do the job?

Thanks
John

Here's what it looks like in action.

My understanding is that Kibblewhite will make whatever you want, but if you want off the shelf I believe XL350 valves are 2mm larger diameter.
