Cycle Gear changes tires as long as they are off the bike.

Where did it go?

There was mention of a ride around Aravaca, Ruby Rd this weekend. It's looking like I'll be able to go on that, which would be pretty cool. What happened to that ride?

They only do tires, and you have to bring them the rim off the bike. They don't do any other services. If you need a shop to work on the bike, Z's motorcycle works or on any moto are both good choices.

On Any Moto (www.onanymoto.com) mentioned by PhiSig1071, is having an event this Saturday with deeper discounts.

Great shop for me so far, they always work with me to fit my tall lanky frame with appropriate gear. They have a full service department for probably most brands, and my favorite part is they are owned and staffed by local riders.

Eh, I ride to have fun. I'm no Blazusiak or Jarvis. I have more fun if I don't crash. I crash less (and wear myself out less) with a Rekluse. Therefore I have more fun. It's like ABS/TC on a streetbike. I did a trackday on an S1000RR, one of the guys there was bitching about the ABS/TC and quickshifter. I said if it allows me to have fun and not crash I'm all for it. Rider aids haven't gotten to the point where they interfere with my enjoyment of the experience. Your results may differ.

I may be doing a big ride soon (like a week long, that's big for me), and I'm wondering about the road north out of Rosevelt toward Young. It's mostly dirt. I'm going to be on my Ducati Multistrada 620 with street tires. Is this do-able? Anyone been on that road recently?

Yes, it is highly graded...100+ MPH straightaways.

I saw mention of the OnAnyMoto event this Saturday. It should be good. I'll be there manning the Ducati booth (given that things work out). I'm not an employee, just a lowly club president who volunteered to help out.

Ask me why traction control sucks if you like :) (Or mostly sucks anyway, it's getting a lot better in very recent bikes from what I read).

I forgot to say thanks for the info about the "Young" road. I've been wanting to try that for a long time and I haven't been able to. Good to hear that it's nicely graded.

My goal is the Grand Tetons but we'll see how that works. It's still pretty cold up in these areas I guess. I checked Flagstaff and it's 38 degrees this morning.

From Globe take 188 to 288 to Young. I forget the road out of Young but you take that up to 260 and then over to FR300 which is also nicely graded. Then you can take several routes over to Munds Park just South of Flag. BEAUTIFUL ride.

That looks like a good road. I saw a few pictures on Google Earth and from what I see my Multistrada with street tires should work fine. Wow. Never saw that road before.

I rode my Suzuki M109R on that road through Young and it hates any dirt. Very doable.

Rode Rice Peak today - never made it to the top - took too many side roads exploring the area. Ran into some pretty rough stuff.

Maybe my last ride until cool weather.
