FYI, this is El Oro mine in Holden Canyon, which can be accessed by a side trip off Warsaw Canyon, which is a side trip off Ruby Road. For reference that wall in front of the ruins is about 5ft high. (3.5 miles south of Ruby in Warsaw, take a right, go up the hill, through the gate and follow the road into the wash, and follow the wash til you get to the ruins, not big bike friendly, not medium bike friendly, I would say a 450 or smaller, or a 2-smoke. Go with a friend, preferably a few friends)

Pretty cool.

I found that on Google Earth. I wasn't to far from there a few weeks ago. We just didn't know where to go so we followed the roads that looked good.

Looks like a house or a ranch just to the south and east of that mill as well.

A friend of mine is decent at getting his DR650 through some gnarly stuff, and I've had decent luck with the DR350, so we might check this out.

Yeah, there's some other smaller ruins in there too. Just north of the mine is a chimney that's all that's left of a cabin, supposedly the mine foreman's house. If you go across the canyon or south there are some old homestead sites. If you go a good ways south there is a cabin, but you can't ride there. Holden Tank is there, and it's basically a dam. If you're on a trials bike, or you're Graham Jarvis, you could probably ride up the damn. I've heard that the cabin is also a hideout/waypoint for scouts/smugglers in the area (lots of illegal traffic) so I probably wouldn't go there.

Happy Labor day

Today is the first day of the best riding month in my home region.

Took on some beautiful rough trails this weekend.

Still have six good weeks of riding here.

Arivaca

I'm back in Arivaca (actually been here all summer with a bunch of trips here and there) and my usual riding partner moved so I haven't been riding much. I don't like to ride in the boonies alone since I'm on a KLR650 and am getting a little brittle.

Anyway, if you are in the area and need a place to spend the night, get a cup of coffee, or get hauled out of a ditch stop by. If you want some company on a ride, I'd go for that too. PM me for details.

I'll also be doing the "Arivaca Outback" in February next year if you are into that.

What is the Arivaca outback? I'm interested in that area now that I've been there on a dirt bike.

Arivaca

We're lowering our WR250X for the wifey and I always have my trusty DR650SE which is getting a new Seat Concepts seat! She's never been to Arivaca (nor even off road much, she's a real trooper on her Ninja 250 though), so we may make Arivaca high on our list of first dualsport destinations.

What IS Arivaca Outback?

I've been out of town for all of them so far but the next one should be doable. I'm in my first week of retirement

Don't think I've ever seen the area so green. Out by Oracle today. My camera was dead so just cell phone pics.

Yes. I turned around shortly after crossing that stream. I should have allotted more time to go up to mt.lemmon. Bet it was really nice up there today.
