fishnbait and I are riding up the backside of MT Lemmon on Sunday, 8/30/09. We'll leave from Queen Creek at about 7am and hit the desert in Florence about 7:30 ish. I'm hoping we can get some of you Tucson boys to meet up either in Oracle or meet us up on top for a bite to eat and some hang time. Miles from Queen Creek are about 98 one way. from Oracle I thinks its about 30 some odd miles to the top. We're both taking our 400's out for some exercise. Our last trip over Lemmon was on the KLR's. Gas in Queen Creek, Florence, Oracle along with plenty of hydration choices. We'll try and pin down meet up times as guys chime in.

Big question...who wants to go?

You can follow the thread here:

Is this going up the Mt Lemmon control road? Somenone told me there is a campground near the begining of the control road and I'd rather haul my bike down from Eloyistan and park and ride from there, possible?

You can stage at Peppersauce campground if that's what you want to do...

If you don't want to park in the campground, there's a road to the right of it with some primitive spots to stage at.

KIC:

I'll pencil that in.

I'd be riding from Tucson to Oracle for the hook up, and will keep an eye on the progress.

I'm thinking I can be down, too.

I'd be coming from Tucson as well. What time/place would we meet in Oracle?

And is there a time/place I could meet someone coming from Tucson? I'm on the eastside.

Thanks,
William

Tucson Phoenix Mt Lemmon

OKAY..the latest is that the Phoenix guys will be at the Circle K that is a little east of the Oracle - Florence Junction, at Approx 10:00 AM.

They will ride up using the following:

"No San Manuel. We cut off before that and head up the hill at W American Ave"

I can't make it because I HAVE to be somewhere at 1:00PM.

You guys ride safe and have fun !

Here's the thread yo ucan check for the latest updates:

I am not sure where this road is that they are taking:

"up the hill at W American Ave. The Circle K is up the Road"

Maybe you could unload at the Circle K. and ride from there.

Let's see if anyone else from Tucson jumps in, and plan accordingly. I'm on the NW side, btw.

UPDATE: This was posted on the KLR650 site:

Looks like there may be some interest on the ADV site.
This may reduce some of the confusion. Or maybe not.
GSbill and I plan on being at the Circle K in Oracle about 10am. How many Circle K's are there? If more than 1, the one we will be at is on W American Way, according to Streets and Trips.
Hoped this helped.

Hey William..where on the east side are you ? Desert Dweller and I are in the Harrison/22nd and the Harrison/Golf Links area. We usually go on short impromptu rides around here. Plus we all ride together with another guy to the Dual Sport bike nights.

Not to be a P.I.T.A., but there are two Circle K's in Oracle, both on American Way. The 'first' one is on the left about 1/4 mile in from Hwy77 and the 'second' is on the right about a mile in. Not a big deal, but if you didn't 'see' the first one for some reason (off tangent slow moving pickup truck, kids kicking can, dog chasing motorcycle wheels, etc (actual things to look out for as you enter Oracle)) you could end up waiting a long while at the second.

I'm thinking it should be up to the folks riding from Florence (and the Tucson riders using 77 to Oracle) where they all meet up... maybe someone can flip a coin or something.

If I am able to do this ride (looks good so far), I'll be going through Reddington to San Man, get some gas and bang over to the control road via Webb Rd. It would be cool if everybody got together at Peppersauce around 1015-1030... there's plenty of shade and parking for the bikes (unless I'm the only dood riding in from Reddington/San Man... then I'll just catch up with the group somewhere).

I'll keep a lookout for any developments, and if anyone else is interested in doing this ride from the Tanque Verde Circle K.

The Tanque Verde Circle K is a good meeting spot for me, as well.
