Just an Old Grizzly

First, yes I made it back. 1160 miles, in 2 days, on a bike, is something. Russ, did you buy the one that was posted on CL? I sent that to Cathy and told her she should buy it. That baby looked sweet.
I will tell you there are some roads in Nevada that are unbelievably desolate. I went 200 miles without seeing a single person. PS: Bike people are salt of the earth. The guy I bought the 990 from, put me up Friday night and we talked bikes until 2am. Not so good if you are on the road at 8am the next day. I never got to Las Vegas until 10pm that night. Rain, wind almost running out of gas...it was a REAL adventure.

Not to many pictures. I had to hustle. This was taken somewhere between Elko and Ely Nevada.
![]() PS: right after I took this picture, the water bottle hanging out the Wolfman bag fell out. I turned around and picked it up but when I went to turn the turning radius was such that I had to go in the little ditch on the side of the road. I didn't carry enough momentum and had to stop on the burm. When I tried to get going again the bike leaned to the left and I had not place to put my foot so I had to let the bike fall. If it wasn't for the crash bars and the panniers, I would have NEVER gotten it up. LESSON ONE....DON'T EVER STOP WITH A BIKE THIS BIG.

Yes, I got the one listed on CL out in Vail. Cathy should get the one in Silver City, NM. We may be going to Silver City this weekend so I could bring it back to her ![]() I'm going to need help in learning the How/What/When to do stuff to my bike not to mention learning to ride the thing. I think we need a Red Garter night this week. Any takers? Russ |

I'd love to swap ride ideas as well. I really feel like I conquered most of the basic rides surrounding Tucson in the 2 weeks of holiday after getting the GSA. Just did a ridiculously gnarly trail from Las Cinegas to highway 82 over the weekend on the big bike. It was insane. I have the GPX that I'm more than willing to share - and to suggest you need something in the <=400cc category to conquer! Anyways, I'd most likely be down.

Alright, as long as it is not raining I will show up at the RG Thursday. When are you ready to ride Russ? I am known for taking Noobs out and getting their collar bones broken.

Hey Allyn,
He's got a nice light, 2T. The only place to take him for training is Rug Road. ![]() ![]() . |

Considering that the last time I rode a motorcycle I broke my shoulder, elbow, scapula, wrist, and 7 ribs, I vote for a "no broke bones" ride ![]() I can't believe how nervous I'm getting about this first ride on a dirt bike!! Russ |

You need a 27mm for the axles. 8mm, 10mm and 13mm are the only others you need and some allen wrenches.
