Hey Tucson/Marana Folks. I'm looking for info on singletrack moto trails north of Tucson maybe in the foothills of Marana. I almost bought a bike from a guy that said there was good technical trails in the area. Where can I get more info?

I've got to visit some property in March in the Sawtooth Mtns between Marana and Arizona City....so I was thinking of bring my Killer Trail Machine for some riding.
Thanks,

There's 3 of us (one is quite new to off-road riding) and we're meeting at the last Circle K gas station on Tanque Verde (just past Houghton) at 9:30am.

We'll head along Reddington and then north trowards Mammoth and try some of the dirt roads on the east side of Mt Lemmon. After that we'll head from Mammoth towards Sibley Mansion, but probably won't get all the way -there's some rough sections plus we'll run out of time.

I'd like to be back in Tucson by 5pm.

I'll join you if you don't mind. I've been over Reddington and Mt Lemmon control road a few times but never up in to Mammoth. I live in Oro Valley so I may head back from Mammoth on Oracle Road rather than riding back over the mountain.

Thanks,
Check out dualsportmaps.com - there are many rides in either the Iron Wood or the Tortalitas.
This assumes you have a GPS.

Hidden pipe line redux

Thursday:

A fun fast ride off of Willow Springs road. (FastPhil's Doom?)

A little nippy in the morning but got real nice in the afternoon.

The 690 and 610

A really fun ride - I would have invited everyone but I am afraid you would object to my redneck ways.

Thanks, yes, the Tortalitas ring a bell. Can you recommend any technical ST in the above areas? 30-70 miles of ST?

Hi Randy - too far? John (sddlrmkr) drove down here last year just to attend Desert Daze - a weekend event!
The deep freeze weather seems to have ended yesterdayand we're back to normal Tucson weather. Hope the snow is gone when I get home next month

Can you guys post up a mini-RR on the ride? Some pics and route info? I have to work, but I'm interested in the route.

I've hit up trails out there, very fun and the scenery is unique. There was a hill/mountain that was very red and full of saquaros - coolness.

feeler gauges

I am doing the valve inspection on my tiger and can't seem to locate a proper set of feeler gauges. I need the kind with the 45 degree bend, which I have, but mine and the ones I've seen around don't go below .2mm. I need down to at least .1mm. Does anyone happen to have a set I could borrow, tomorrow? I want to get this all measured tomorrow so I can add any shims to the order I need to place on monday for gaskets. Thanks

A straight set that is narrow (maybe <.25") but still at least 1.5"lg might also work as those might be bendy enough.

Just a few pics... We headed out Reddington Rd and San Pedro river Rd and then headed north to mammoth. When we got to Mammoth we headed East to the Copper creek area. Along the way we took a small route off the side of the road that lead towards the east side of Mt Lemmon, but got stopped shortly after because 2 of the 4 of us are new and were just in over our heads. Better to find another route than hurt man or machine.

All in all a good day. I think it has me convinced to sell my bike as the whole day i kept thinking I'd rather be on a sportbike. We'll see. No regrets, great day....
