Great pictures, Chris. I thought you did really well for your first ride off-road, so I'm surprised you weren't enjoying it and are thinking of sticking with sportbikes. Give it another try.

I've posted my pictures on Picasa as there's too many to include here.

I most certainly wasn't having a bad time.. If i end up keeping the bike for a while I will take it out and enjoy it. I just didn't enjoy this like I do sportbikes. It's not good or bad, just different. I like moving FAST. I think if I decided to stay with ADV riding I would want something a bit more street oriented that would still allow me to go remote places. This bike is very capable, but it's obnoxious to drive any distance, and I would want to go explore the grand canyon, and Moab, and Yosemite, and places just too far away to consider on this bike. Plus, I would want to bring my GF, and this bike I don't think lends itself to that real well.

We'll see. But I did have a great time. It was good meeting you guys. Maybe I will catch you again before you leave town...

Why not just use the Corvette with the top down

I do. The Vette has a 408 stroker in it, did 461hp and 447tq to the tires. Makes the KTM feel like a Vespa power wise. It is sport bike fast, but as you know it's just not the same. But then the GF loves to ride in it too, so it has it's benefits.

I had a good time out there on Saturday. "Thanks" for posting so many photos of me getting stuck on the rocks Bob! Looking forward to the next group ride.

How you doing Allyn?

For those who didn't hear, our little buddy HTM, had a tippy-over I presume on this ride and broke his Tibia AND Fibula!! Surgery last week. He is in good sprits and is in alot of pain.

Hopefully he can release the Kracken soooonn....

Let's all send Prayers and or good thoughts his way.

Get well soon daddy!!

All in all a good day. I think it has me convinced to sell my bike as the whole day i kept thinking I'd rather be on a sportbike. We'll see. No regrets, great day....
I hear ya. My sport bike has been out of commission for months, and while I enjoy tooling around on my little XT, it's an apples/oranges thing, and I'm starting to REALLY feel the need for street speed. *sigh*
I also get frustrated because I really feel I shouldn't be doing much in the way of off-road riding by myself. I'm used to and enjoy riding by myself on the street, and organizing things with my wacky schedule is difficult.

I still have the vette. And evans place? It was taken at hot rods old vail. Is that evans place?

The beauty of the engine in the vette is peak hp is 5700 rpm. It has huge power under the curve. I would have to look at the dyno chart but it had like 350 ft lbs of tq at 2000 rpm. It comes off corners like its on fire. Love it!!

How many of you Tucson guys are headed out to Desert Daze in the Dragoons in mid March? It seems like a pretty close place to most of you. If you see 2 Michigan plates and 2 NM plates don't run us over.

Every year this is scheduled at spring break - having two daughters in school - we always do a family vacation (skiing in Utah).

Would love to attend otherwise.

HTM,

Sorry to hear about the broken bones. Heal up quick and hope to see you at the Red Garter when you can get out and about.

You might want to check in at the "Heavy Metal Club" thread in Face Plant.

I heard about this from Slowred today. That sucks! I think you will have to coach him through the rehab and help keep his spirits up since you went through something similar. Who has the trophy now, anyway?
