Maybe you should think about that for real. I'd like a safe place to set up a base camp and do some exploring down that way.

This is one reason why.

Here is another, today I rode up into the clouds on the Continental divide.

Hope the rains are greening up the desert.
Any one have plans for a trip North?
Nice to hear from Mdog!

Just got back from a week riding in Silverton - too bad it was in a RZR. The wolf insists on going and with my rig - I have to leave the Husky home.

Up to the Piute trail in the middle of Utah.

RVs ATVs, UTVs, and Bikes.
Google it.

Camping in the outback required

will be passing through that area actually as I have planned to meet up with a riding buddy on the salt flat north west of there (we are trying to keep a tradition of meeting up on dry lakes). When are you thinking of doing this? I would be passing through the area thurs or fri of next week if everything goes as planned.
Are you saying the area has all those machines allowed or its going to be all of those at once on the ride?
As fas as camping in the outback goes... Ill pack some fosters. ;)

Thanks for the info ADV rider rocks!!

No salt flats - been here done that.

This is in the center of Utah - high mountains and scrub desert.

Google Paiute trail.

Sept 8 to 18.

So I mentioned this to Fried and at the Red Garter Last night (hope I didn't get lost in the big ADV crowd!), but I've been itching to do the Tanque Verde - Redington - San Manuel - Oracle - Backside Mt. Lemmon - Catalina Hwy - Tanque Verde loop for a while now. Easy DS route around 120 miles. Any takers for next Thursday?

I've already said to much, but I think this is a really great idea.

I thought you might say this..

Looks like I better order my new tires soon! Had a guy call yesterday that wanted to buy the 600 from Silver City NM. Didn't work out though, so looks like I still have a ride!

I'm going to put my name down on the maybe/probably list.

So I've got me a bike in Tucson now! R100GS, perfect for the twisty highways and endless dirt roads all over the area. I'll be back in town next Sunday for two weeks. Love to jump in on a group ride or meet the crew at the Red Garter. That Tanque Verde loop next Tuesday sounds perfect but I won't be there yet :-(.

Mentioned this here before and on the TART, but I'm thinking a Thurs 8-8 or Thurs 8-15 ride to do the Tanque Verde - Redington - San Manuel - Oracle - Backside Mt. Lemmon - Catalina Hwy - Tanque Verde loop.

120 miles of easy dirt roads and pavement.

Was thinking next Thursday (8-8-13) but would happily wait until the following Thursday (8-15-13) if it would mean a bigger group or be more convenient for folks with the longer notice and all.

Sounds like maybe Thurs 8-15 might work for more riders, always tougher to get a group ride together on a week day.

Don:

That's a fun ride! I'm in if my BRP is ready to go by the 8-8-13 date (having some carb work done right now).

August 15th is up in the air right now. I might be out of town....
