No wheeled vehicles. However, if you want a hell of a hike you can bushwack about 6 miles up the mountains to a WW II bomber crash...pretty damn cool and not many people have seen it.
Where can I get more info on this? Do you have the GPS co-ords? I'd like to see that.

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the bomber either. Coordinates would be nice!

This is how I found it in the first place. I don't have exact coordinates. I can tell you it is a bushwack trip and a bit of a treasure hunt because the terrain is rolling so when you look at the map it looks easy to get to. It did take me two trips to find it, but I have been up there 3 times since finding it.

Good info on the crash site. I'd like to hike out there sometime too. Converted coordinates from the summithut site puts it at N32 04.930 W110 33.314 in GPS coordinates, which looks to be about right - about a half mile or so south of Aliso Spring.

Signing into this thread for the first time since I just bought a place in Tucson. Well, Vail, but that's close. So much to read and digest about riding in the area. I have a few riding buddies who are very familiar with the trails south of I 10 and have tried a few, but there looks to be so much more. Bikes are Husky TR650, TE630 and Yamaha WR250R. I'll be slowly making the move from Texas to Vail over the next few months and look forward to joining in for some exploring once there.

Hey, I have around 20 GPS tracks of rides south of I10.

Let me know if you want some of them - or better yet - if you want to go for a ride.

Bikes: Husky TE610 and a Kaw 250.

Flashman, that sounds great. I will let you know when my plans get me back to Tucson with time to do some riding.

Howdy all. I've got a 600 with 2 new tubes, 1 new tire, new skid plate, engine cover and fork seals that wants to go play.

For those familiar with the area, what would you recommend for scenic, adventurous, possibly water involved, DS trails around here? Reddington? Backside? Mt Graham? Marana? Madera canyon? I can't be out for more than a day with my current schedule, but I'd sure Love to get out and about!

What's the next ride brewing?

Teaching a kid to ride

so i picked up a CRF 50 for the kid and he is now big enough to ride. problem is i dont really know of any "kid friendly" off road areas in Tucson. i think the MX track would be intimidating for the first time. im looking for an area mostly open and hard packed with minimal cactus for him to crash into. any suggestions?

Any of the areas 50,000 miles of dirt roads would probably be perfect to learn on.
