What part of town are you in?

Somewhere relatively quick and easy would be off of wilmot road, the dirt part near sahurita road. Lots of open fields out there.

There's also lots of areas off of the mine road "south santa rita road", more south is better. Up towards the mountain gets a little more rocky/hilly, maybe better for when he gets older.

Take Irvington east from Houghton, take the 2nd or 3rd or 4th left turnoff from that dirt road and look for the trails. Nothing too outrageous, but lots of dirt to play in and goof around on. Can take the wash further southeast from there and take the four wheel track back in off the wash, up a little hill then that trail splits, go off to the left and down rocky hill into a sort of basin. Stay straight at the fork, back up the hill, and if the gate is open (usually is) there's a dirt track area up there that's got some whoops, hills, doubles, lots of great stuff for learning the ropes yet staying in eyesight. Many ways in and out of there, depending on surrounding development and earth mover activity. can also access from Bilby, Drexel, and the gravel company if their gates are open. Considering the rains, you might find lots of puddles and there should be a full out pond if you stay straight at the split instead of going into the basin.

Anyone know what this area is referred to as? It's clearly been used for lots of offroading for years..and it's where I learned a lot of my skeelz.

Oh, and a new kick spring, kick idle gear circlip/washer, oil pump gear, timing chain/sprockets/guides, plug, tank, speedo, and 120+lbs of nitro... Hopefully that will get things going steady..

2T rinnnnnng ride

I think I got my 200 up & running and have Thursday to check it out. Anyone up for some aggressive dirt riding?
Redington if nothing else, lower Chiva, Chimney. Something along those lines.
40 miles tops.

You guys need to get off the dirt roads and get into some real back country riding...let YZFCathy show you around.

Sure, lower loop sounds like a great idea on my pig!
On the other hand, I finally got her running today, and with a new k270 on the rear, new used engine guard and new fork seals, I'd Love to know what she's capable of, and get the suspension dialed in a little. Aka, add air :)

Seriously, though, yzf Cathy - do you think it's unwise to take my 86 KL600 on your "aggressive dirt riding"?

If my DiRt350 was up, I'd feel more comfortable in the rough stuff methinks..

Well, I have seen it done on a BMW HP2 by two different people and a lowered pig 2008 KLR 650 and I think Ron has done some of Chiva on his 2008 KLR. I did it on my 640 ADV and my 650R. It can be done, just need to tell yourself you can do it. Obviously, it is easier to pick up a DR 350. In some ways the big bike is nice because they are PLUSH and take the rocks a little nicer...until you get to a good sized step-up, then they can be tough.
