I haven't been out to Charouleau Gap yet. Like you said I have always been given the impression that it is indeed pretty rough. Ok, I've always been given the impression it's kind of insane. Chiva is pretty rough, but I'm ok with that. I do want to get out to Gunsite Pass. I haven't been there in ages and it was a lot of fun.

If you've got a spare Saturday and feel like heading out there let me know.

Even Becky has commented on how much easier the route was the second time she rode it. Of course, you have to keep in mind that the "death" part of the name came more from the heat than from the terrain.

I did the Gap, the whole way from Tucson to Oracle, in July. It was definitely insane. It was also my first off road ride, and the first AZ ride for the other two riders. Bad idea.

Yeah a hot day and not enough water could certainly turn any ride out here into Death in the Desert.

Yeah I'm guessing that was a bit unsettling as a first ride, but hey, sounds like you made it and now everything probably just seems like a stroll in the park.

I could potentially go for a ride on Thursday, if it was something super short and close. I have to work in the afternoon. The only thing that I can think of is the powerline road area off Tangerine. I don't want to limit your ride if you've got the whole day off though. I guess I don't really know that powerline is a "mello" area either.

FYI, went to Chiva yesterday, it's running, barely.

Went in thru 3 feathers and out the east half of 4417, we had a DRZ, CRFX, WR, XR650R, and two quads. It was a fun ride.
