Thanks for the fun guys. Skip

Ok, OK, you got me. However, you are completely off base with the stock car thing. The 11 is from my days on Apollo 11. You remember "That was one small step for a man...one giant leap for mankind". I told you I was from Ohio orginally, Wapakineta to be more precise. A Purdue grad to boot.

I asked for next sunday off of work, so we need to have something planned, hopefully something that won't make my bike too narcoleptic...

Sean asked for next Sunday off, it would be great to ride together but I am -not- doing that ride two weekends in a row. This will be his first real dirt ride too and I don't want him to die. I also have a lot of homework to juggle, so something -actually- new rider appropriate and shorter would be nice.

ha! We posted at the same time. :P

So just what are you saying?

No one died yesterday! And I bet you slept well last night.

Don't worry -- I'll be trapping black footed ferrets next weekend. So you don't have to worry about me laying out the track.

Ok, seriously...there are a bunch of roads that are to the north of Box Canyon, still on the west of the mtns. I don't recall any huge washes through there (not like we saw yesterday). It is relatively flat and easy riding, but not as easy as a graded dirt road. Since you both ride on the street, you could just hit those up and wander aimlessly. When you are getting tired, or get completely lost just keep working your way north and west...you will find pavement that will take you back to town (assuming you don't take a road that crosses over the Santa Ritas while wandering around).

By the way, Skip was going to ride this out. However, it was kick start only and that Cummins Diesel is a bitch to turn over after a long night out.

Flat Fixing redux

I got some first hand flat fixing knowledge this weekend. In the end, I guess it was a good thing. But I was on my way back from Montezuma's Pass when I realized I had a REAR flat. I limped into Parker Canyon lake and found a nice shaded tree.
I then had to come to terms with actually taking on this job because I did carry the tools with me all day. Plus there was no phone service.

Forty Five minutes later, 4 air cartridges, and lots of sweat, I was back on the road to get some ice cold Lemonada Rosa in Patagonia.

It might be Tony...yes, that's really his name! He has a dog named Norton who rides on the tank of theTiger. He and Kate have some triumphs and Nortons. He's a member of RATTucson.
I'm in Denver right now, picking up Sara's Tiger in the morning!

I will miss Skyline like nobody's business. After a few beers a 4 way and a chili dog can't be beat.

Man..that looks like you hit a heck of a pot hole and blew your bike apart. Hope your flat fix went well.
