Has anyone on here ridden the road that follows the railroad tracks from Red Hill Ranch Rd (off the frontage road East of Vail)?

I poked down there a few miles today, but on Google Earth it looks like you can ride it all the way to Mescal if not all the way to Benson without hitting pavement.

There are locked gates along the railroad tracks. Not that an industrious soul couldn't find a way around...but I am not sure what the penalty is should they not like you there. At Mescal road you can ride the tracks to Benson.

I think I rode them to Mescal. It was a long time ago so the memory is fuzzy, but I did indeed make it. Fyi you end up having to ride on the railway right of way road for some distance, and even crossing under the railroad bridges a couple of times, but you can make it. i didn't explore past mescal

TucsonBill, Sarah, and I went out there and made it the whole way.

You do have to use the railroad right-of-way and there are a couple of closed gates but, when we did it, they weren't locked. Bill did a write up of the ride somewhere on here and might have even loaded a gps route for it.

There was a big debate over whether or not it was ok to ride the railroad so do it at your own risk (the local folks who live there definitely do it as a short cut over to Benson).

Man it's hard to say no to a good project. Most of the things you mentioned i already have fixed on my KL600s. Do these 250s have the doo issues?

You better buy that thing before I do. I dont need a project, but the better half wants a dirt bike, and the price is right. Whats wrong with the choke? Easy fix? How bent are the forks?
