Fooled me too.. I thought the same thing. Glad now I didn't drive over there.

Banjo,, do you know if the public( me) is allowed to go down to Cheraw and ride on these roads that the rally was on?

Wishful thinking??

Some...but not all, the race is held on some roads that are normally gated. Some of those gates may be open during hunting season in the fall....I don't know.

There is plenty of riding on both sides of the state line in the sandhills though....so I'm told, I haven't done much exploring there for myself.

Arrrrgg, will get some better hints sooner next time, eh!?

Bullet's bike look so classic in his pictures.

Banjo, saw some of those sandblast rally pics on CR too, wow. Looks way fun!

Ummm, you mean hints like the ones that came with the ticket window?

Well, OK, since you asked so nicely.

It's on the Reedy River. The mill, the town, and the road all share the same name. And the lake and the nature park, too.

And thanks for the compliments on the Bullet.

More hints

Tap, tap, tap..... is this thing still on?

"For more than 100 years, from the very late 1700s to the early 1900s, the XXXXXXXX area was a major factor in the development of what is now the greater Greenville area - particularly its early industrial growth. From the establishment of a mill sometime in the 1790's and the start-up of the Carruth Armory (gun factory) before 1815, through the operation of the Patterson/Dunham Paper Mill and the McBee Manufacturing/Reedy River Factory complex in the mid nineteenth century, this area lead Greenville into the industrial age. A lawsuit brought by XXXXXXXX Mills against the City of Greenville in 1925 for pollution of the Reedy River was an early landmark in the fight to restore South Carolina's rivers from the damage done by discharge of municipal and industrial wastes. Oh I know where it is and it will be gotten tonight once my wife gets back from Florida. Her being gone has cramped my riding!

Nice bike! What year is that, and I'm surprised you don't have those monster bags on it

Bruced!

Dang it. I had to work at Lake Lure, so I grabbed this on the way.

Lucky we're playing by NC rules, if we were playing by N. GA rules, it would be MINE! Muahaha.

The new tag. Go get it.

The clue: I got a real charge from being in the middle of all this history, and I hope you will, too.

Good luck,
Chris

hojo,

Thanks for the compliment. The GS is a 2000. I enjoy the heck out of it.

All the best,
Chris

PU Skunk,

I met a bike less than two miles from the mill, so I was sure that I was too late to get the tag considering that I had to shoot the photo, run an hour back home and get the thing uploaded.

It wasn't you, as you know -- it was a blue BMW F650. I was sure it was one of you FFs!

About the North GA rules: They only make sense in a moto-playground like North GA -- if they make sense there. I probably wouldn't want to leave there to chase a tag if I lived there, either. I know a bunch of those North GA yahoos, BTW. They're a good bunch.

I've got to get back on the road and get home.

All the best,
Chris

Nice tag, Land!

Not too long ago someone was wondering when the SC tag might reach the coast . Might they have an answer today?

p.s. Nice bike. When I get my /5 back on the road, we'll have to get together to compare old school and new school.
