Not far from there. The Battle of Great Cane Brake took place about 4 miles away, near the Reedy River.

Unfortunately, the current property owner (reportedly an Englishman) refuses to let the ceremony take place on the battle site, so they hold it up the road a bit. The historical marker is gone, too. Sore loser, maybe?

It's all about the Adventure

Tag!
Now that was a good one! Seeing things in the fog and mist is pretty neat.
Came home a bit damp around the edges, but the kitchen sure smells good with a roast cooking in the crockpot and my wife just happened to have some hot chocolate under construction.

Cambell's Bridge

So, when I determined which bridge this was, I found a link that gave directions to the park. DON"T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU FIND ON THE WEB!
It looked like the site was only about five miles from my house-as the crow flies-up in the far edge of the "Dark Corner"..........NOT!
Isn't there a quote somewhere about the true"ADVENTURE" begins when plans go awry?

After wandering around in the fog and drizzle for awhile, I did the logical thing and asked someone for directions. To my surprise, the bridge was located on the other side of Gowensville off hwy 14.
Here are a couple of other pics....

I had a bit of an obsession with covered bridges when I lived in Maine. We would search them out and had found over 50 before we moved to North Carolina. Another one on the "list".

Weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow.......I have a breakfast ride planned and a new tag in mind.
See ya!

Way to go Driller!!

That must be the same bridge I stopped at once if it's near Gowensville.

It was a number of years ago and I was wondering about it just this past summer but couldn't remember how to find it.

Great tags! I got on to see if anyone had claimed the Fairview church one yet, and we're already two tags down!

Campbells' Covered bridge looks different than when I was a kid, back then it was looking pretty shabby.

Where's the tag headed to now? Remember a file photo can be used if you need to get a tag pic up within 24 hours.

Good job on finding it, after riding home from the fairview tag I had just wanted to find a local tag since I live in Tigerville. The county seems to change the road down to that bridge about every two years.

No duck.....

Sorry! Rest easy, that nasty "Duck" has retired.

Here is the next tag.......
I'm going to post a file photo, but I will be going to the same spot in the morning. Just didn't want to have to rush back to beat the 24hr rule. Might make planning to snag it easier as well.

I think the price for gas from those pumps would seem cheap. Gomer is gone and you probably couldn't get any. However, you could fill up right next door.
Those grits, eggs, sausage and biscuits are going to be mighty good after a little ride tomorrow morning. If you get there later, be sure to order something
"a-plenty" or the "Carolina Special" is good. Your coronary arteries will hate you, but as there are regular Elvis sightings it fits.
Man. I couldn't get this Kenny Chesnee tune out of my head while looking for the bridge this morning. One of those with the calypso beat, made me feel warmer.

Come on, PU. With a little effort, you could be a google jockey, too!

43 "croms" from me. Probably closer to you.

We don't want these NC boys to take all our tags, do we?

I only know one place that serves up stuff "a-plenty" but I don't recognize this from there. You're telling me my first instinct was right?

EDIT. Never mind, found it. And it's not where I thought it was, either. Hmm, whether I can get it tomorrow, since I work all day friday and saturday....

That tune in my head..

The coffee is good. The sun is shining through the window.
Ummmmm. Needs to warm up some before departure. That might mean early lunch instead of breakfast, cause I'm sure they wouldn't call it brunch.

I fell asleep with that Kenny Chesnee song rattling around in my noggin. Almost like it is calling me somewhere.

Okay guys:
I've got it but lets hope I can just figure out how to get the picture into the post???. I won't say where it is in case it doesn't work.

Okay:
The link works but I would really appreciate someone helping me with getting it to appear straight into post. I have Smug mug and can hit "share" but that 's for e-mail or a link. Never been very good at this unless it is very intuitive.

Okay so , the Bantanm Chef "Fillin Station" it is!@.

Nice clues!. I was just lucky I happened to be off this morning and could run over there from Spbg. I think this will turn out to be more of a game for the retired population that has lots of time to "head out" in search of the next tag. However, I'm glad I got this one.
BTW...Bantam Chef has excellent food( don't tell your heart Dr you ate there.) Really neat memorabilia to check out if you've never been!
Give me a minute or two to get the next tag posted. Let me know if I playing this game incorrectly.

This is fun!
