Arizona High Country - 1 last ride

It is that time of year when my high country trips may soon be cancelled because of frigid temps, snow, ice, and forest road closures. Soo, I took one last trip for the record. It is one of my favorite loops. Starts in Pinetop AZ, cause thats where I live, travels through a mixture of forest roads to Greens Peak (approx 10,000+ elev), then into Greer for lunch and back home. Total miles 100 + or - depending on the forest roads taken.

Left home and jumped on the White Mountain Blvd freeway, THEE bussiest freeway on the mountain. Got watch out for traffic sneeking up on you. As you can see, its one of the high traffic times on sat. morning

A little trip through the residential areas

A little further through the residential area

I feel so sorry for those of you who can not travel 1.5 miles and see this sign

I love it that The Sitgraves Nat'l Forest is my back yard!!! 187 was the start of the forest roads. Here is a pic. just around the corner onto 187 just past the sign - heaven

Welcome to the ride!! Just as well take your computer out to the garage, set on your handle bars, and ride along. Don't know what your riding on the trip, but me, I am on the trusty KLR/GS/r/exc/se-supersport/xe . Gawd I kill myself. Lets get on the road again. More forest roads on the way to Greens Peak.

As you can tell, we travelled at a fast pace on the above road.

and on this road also

Fast, long sweeping corners

You ff's still behind me, haulin arse. Hope the dust isn't to bad. Just in case it is heavy, I'll stoop for a beer.

65 degrees

Did I mention the day was in the mid 60's, just perfect for the days ride.
Not hot, not cold, just about right. Beer break is over, lets hit the trail, follow me ff's.

Somewhere up here is the road we need. AAHH, here it is

I say we go left, the map indicates left, the gps says left, lets go left.

Fellow user's of our nat'l forest system

It may be a utv, but atleast he has the family out enjoying the back country roads. And, we did go by kinda fast.

But not as fast as we were goin on this road, wfo baby

Came accross this huge cinder pit. If you ff's had any hangy downies, one of you would have tackled that big boy! But noone wanted a picture of failure, and I was scared .

how bout another beer, I'll get you ff's all drunkarded up before the end of this ride

Slam around the corner and head on down the road

The above road lead to one of the last remaining pockets of fall colors. Must be well protected and a good supply of moisture in that area. Beautiful!!!!!

Just up here is our next road

More great roads, hope everyone is enjoying the ride!!

The TOP

A short trip to the top, and one can see a bunch of arizona real estate.

I'll just pan around in all directions for ya. A series from the PEAK

If you look real hard in the center of the picture at the distant mountain, you will see the Sunrise Ski Area.

O.K., I'll make it easy and push that closer upper button again

Here's a look at whats all up here.

The next shot, well, I hate to brag, But it could be one of the mostest beautifulest, neatestest pictures EEEVVVEEERRR. but then I'm bi-assed.

What a bike of beauty, look at the easy lines, the sleakness, the custom paint, one of a kind decals, WOW!!! . .

Just a little different form

After a peak run down, a quick trip to Greer, I spy the eatery

This is my favorite outdoor, good weather, bad weather, place to get grub. If in the area, its a must! Just accross the street is a nice creek

With a nice little table if you want real peace by the creek

Well, that gets you to Greens Peak and to Greer! I dicked around enough taking pictures and eating a nice long lunch with a couple 4 peaks Kiltlifter scotch ales, its getting along in the day and I need to get back. I'm just reversing the order to get home in a hurry, no pics. But I will leave you with one last look off Greens Peak. And thanks for riden along
