More PLEASE!

Easily the best RR I've stumbled across!

As I write this there is 8 inches of snow in my yard and ice on the street. My GS groans every time I walk past it in the garage.

I know you can't read this, but Zion isn't all that warm. Then again, you are from Chicago.
You'll be fine.
Hope you find work!

Hi all!
I'm in Moab, after camping near lake Powell last night.
I got what I asked for with colder weather... 75 degrees less as a matter of fact. Today was a brutally cold, yet stunningly beautiful ride through snow covered Utah...
Since I'm doing this off my phone I'll save the rest for later when I can post photos...

Cheers!

BTW, anyone coming to Moab, Pasta Jay's pasta sucks ass...

Being a man of great discretion as well as seeing Brother Finn is a fellow sophisticate. I cannot go into details of his stay in La Paz.

I will only say that Mr. Finn was a hit with the locals.

Some of the highlights were on Friday night.

Sitting in a second story bar watching the “Carnival” celebration Finn is approached by a friend of mine that is very young and VERY cute.
She wants to go for a ride on the bike the next day, numbers are exchanged, etc.

Approx. 10:02 PM
Kpick to Finn:
“Hey, cool! Let’s get another shot of tequila”.

Finn looking a bit bleary eyed:
“Dude, one more shot will be one too many”.

Kpick:
“Jesus Christ, don’t be such a pussy”.

Kpick & Finn:
Do shots.

Approx. 12:53 A.M. and several shots later.
Mr. Finn is in a pool tournament with out local police detective.
Mr. Police detective is a somewhat bad drunk and a sore loser.

Kpick wanted peace and tranquility starts rooting for the cop.

Approx. 1:43AM Kpick has had too much to drink and leaves Finn in the hands of my project manager “Ronni”. Ronni will get Finn home safe and sound.

Approx. 2:33AM Ronni leaves out a side door with…well…the chubby chick.

Unknown time:
Mr. Finn leaves the bar and searches for my place.

Approx. 3:45AM Mr. Finn is approached by the police in front of my house.
Still on his motorcycle…not running…keys in his pocket.

He is questions in connection with....well....hum.....how can I put this?
Ok…he is questioned about the possibility of him being involved in abuse of the elderly.

Cops tell Finn to get inside right now or he's on his way to jail. Finn has no keys and I’m passed out dead to the world.
Finn, showing his cat like reflexes and aptitude to recover from a tequila binge climbs up to a second story window, jimmies the lock and crawls inside.

The next morning I awoke to make coffee at the crack of 11am.
I notice all the candles in the living room have been moved into Finns bedroom.
What the hell?

He could not or would not explain, nor did I push the issue.

Three days later I’m still getting emails from friends asking who and what happened that night.

Mr Finn is now known by many in La Paz.

However, for some strange reason they don't call him Finn or Gringo or buddy, they call him "The AssMan"

I really have no ideal why?

All in all a good trip down the Baja.

This is almost enough to make me start drinking again.

The Joe Update

Spoke with Finn this morning. He had a great time in Moab, said it was the best off-road riding of the whole trip.

He's in Amarillo heading north east for home.

Details in a few days I'm sure...

OH and Kevin, the way I heard that story, YOU left with the fat chick. What's up? Missing me already??

HEY!
She was not fat, she was big boned.
I think she may have had a thyroid problem of some kind
because she had very large hands for a woman..oh yeah..and a freakishly large adams apple

**quick update**

After spending 2 days around Moab "testing" the 8gs's off road capabilities, and added some new "character" to the bike I noticed that it was leaking oil all around the the top of the head. Shit.
I could live with the tweaked forks, bent bars, and bent wheels, but this could be a problem, I thought.
I headed towards the nearest dealer in New Mexico, keeping a close eye on the oil level, and leak. Turns out the dealer was closed on Sunday and Monday, so I jumped on I40 and headed east. I hate riding East... Though I'm really lucking out with unseasonally warm weather, it's only getting down to 34F...
I'm now at Oklahoma City BMW where they are ripping apart my top end to fix the leak and do an overdue oil change(they have a $29 oil special, so why not let them do the labor, I say?)
Today when they're done I will ride to Arkansas where I will have my last hurah and ride some fire roads/trails and have a last night camping in the bush...
Trying to post off my phone is boring, so I'll fill in all the blanks and post photos when I get home... Plus I have a little to add to kpick's "story" ;)

Cheers!
Finn

Geesh! Just caught up with all the pages today and checked out your Spot to see where you were. Hope they can get that taken care of under warranty or without having to pay up. Enjoying the ride and looking forward to those pics eventually. Riding East isn't that bad.

They said it's under warranty of course, still waiting on the verdict... Trying to work out the oil change under warranty too... They want to change it after having the engine apart right?.... LOL
BTW, you blog is great! Right on ya for documenting what sounds like an amazing experience. I can especially relate to your wise comments about being over charged for things in Mexico... The blue eyed curse..
I hope some of the folk following my little ride will check out your site...
Safe travels Jen!
