I'm from South Lafayette. Just bought a new KLR. Was wondering if anyone knows any good riding around here. I want to take that levee ride but don't know how to get there. Can someone help me...

Hi Poodoo, congrats on the new bike.

Just go to Henderson levee, at Pat's restaurant, turn north or south, ride and come back.

Same at Butte La Rose exit on I-10...

Same at Ramah exit on I-10...

Each time do a little more, hate to give you too much more and ruin the adventure part of it. That's half the fun.

Bring plenty water, its hot!

howdy,

just started riding motorbikes, been riding mountain bikes for years, wanted a little more pucker. thanks for all the great info, been poring over maps of the atchafalaya, indian bayou specifically, trying to figure out where i can ride close to baton rouge. looking for folks to ride with, cant wait to get up to tunica once its open.

I haven't been down that way since early Spring. Work is very taxing, leaving no time for play. The best I've been able to do is take a 2 or 3 hour jaunt around here (S'port, Jefferson, Marshall, etc.). Did have some excitement about a month ago. Had a local shop put on a D606 to replace the very worn TKC. Well, after a solid hour on a hot day the tube split. Funny thing is, I didn't know it till I tried to turn. Had the tools to pull and repair but you can't repair a 4 inch rip. Took another 3 hours to get a pick up. While waiting for the tow, bike fell over in the soft asphalt and broke the clutch lever, hand guard and rear signal. Finally fixed all of it. Replaced the tube MYSELF this time. New rule, carry a spare tube, patches don't fix everything.

Yeah Ken,

I carry front and rear spare, when I'm riding with friends without 18" tires, Icarry two rear spares (or atleast I did in Mexico).

I'm living over in Denton, TX now...no longer a Louisiana ADVer. Yay!

went into wbr parish, poked around on the river. anyone know about the legality or enforcement of riding on the other side of the mississippi levee? some areas are posted, others seem to be open? i imagine that all of it is either levee board or dmap, maybe private? any experiences or opinions are appreciated.

Yeah man. I've been working nights over in La Grange, TX doing a walmart remodel. Sucks, but I'm buying a new bike this weekend....
