I got out to REI yesterday and took a look at the "Official Geocache" Pelican box that I mentioned in an earlier post. The egg fits in it but the egg case does not. Seeing as the egg case has been engraved I'm assuming getting rid of it is not an option so the egg will remain in its camo pouch for now.

Now if only the weather would stop sucking so I could get out and ride...

Paco...you've done more than your fair share for our beloved EGG and this game........well done.

No need to rush out and get yourself hurt just to make a drop. (not like it's ideal riding weather these days anyways).

Be patient...we'll be standing by ready to pounce whenever you do make your drop known.

Want to see some magic?

Weather.com says it's 37 & only partly cloudy there. Put it under a bush by your mailbox and post a photo. The egg ought to magically disappear!

I saw this post, looked outside, saw sunshine, and jumped on the bike... Then, halfway to my planned drop, I passed a cop and realized that I forgot my wallet at home. Had to turn around and head directly back due to my unexpected inability to re-fuel.

Lesson learned, I'll have to hide some emergency cash on the bike and try again tomorrow.

Ha ha, or just don't forget your wallet.

Every time I walk out the door, I say to myself "keys, wallet, phone". If I get that much right, the rest of the day is a lot easier.

Been there. Done that too. Had a really embarrassing moment one time riding for the NC tag. After putting 150 miles on the bike and stopping to get gas I realized I had no wallet. Had to call the wife and explain. Lucky for us the gas station attendant accepted her credit card over the phone and I was able to get home.

I had it for 13 days. Two more and he'll beat my record, tomorrow he ties it. I'd be happy to pass the torch of shame.

I know I haven't grabbed a tag in this game yet so take my comments with a grain of salt but it seems that the basis for a tag game is to keep the tag moving, which it hasn't done much of over the last 3 months.

To be honest with the tag in this game sitting unavailable most of the time, like the tag in the USA TOR, there is not much incentive to get involved and play or even check these boards.

May I suggest a rule change...set a limit on the time a tag can be held by a grabber. Maybe limit the time one can hold the tag to one week or something. It'll get a lot more drops that way and be available for those of us who find (like I do this week) that I can go on a several day ride on the spur of the moment.

Just a suggestion I'm throwing out there because following this game is generally making me

snail tagging

I concur, but what are the repercussions for holding on to the egg too long?

A number of the tag games have a time limit for the good reasons mentioned. This one's a bit different. A lot of people have put a lot of time and effort into moving and protecting the National Tag. It really is an incredible moment to hold the silly thing and know it's been from Belize to Alaska. There's a reason Danny calls it "precious." (Well, then there's just being Danny. )

Seriously, the National Tag never has had a time-out like this till getting wintered into New England. Weather is no longer the issue, though. Somebody needs to find the holder if he can't make a drop on his own and simply get the egg near a road somewhere then post up.
