Here we are trying to explain the finer points of the NA tag to Gail "The EGG" and transport container. Oh, who swipped the crown/pedestal? That was a nice piece of kit!!!
![]() The Egg just couldn't stop talking about last winter and how cold and lonely it was. He was so happy to be running with the SMIB's again!!!!

Great adventure and write up there MapMaster. On my return from my trip, I was maybe 20 miles from that drop. It's a good thing I didn't read the NA TOR before I got home, or he might have found his way back here - lol.
And the Egg's adventures continue.

Drop
One does need to drive on a well maintained dirt/gravel road up and over a pass to get the egg. However, I passed minivans with child seats in back and a grandma driving a Volkswagen station wagon, so I have faith that all of you can make it. I went up and down at a reasonable speed with a Tourance on the back that has 14K miles behind it.
If you're really adventurous, you can find a series of un-maintained gravel/dirt fire roads that run between Cosby and the Cataloochee Valley. At least two water crossings in there and I recommend knobbies. Alright, here is the tag shot, somewhere in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park:
The building in the background is this chapel:
I realized after I took the tag shot that there is a gate about 1/2 mile before the chapel (right in front of a small ranger station) which makes the chapel only accessible from 8am to sunset, so if you grab the tag after those hours, take a picture at the Cataloochee entrance sign, but you still have to go down into the valley to get the egg:
The location of the egg will be in the next post.... Enjoy, Eric

The location of the egg
About 1 1/2 miles before you get to the chapel, or another reference would be about 50 to 100 yards after you pass the Cataloochee camp ground, there is a very small parking area on the side of the road:
About 20 yards down the road from that parking area is a trailhead sign:
Next to the trailhead sign, is a log bridge, cross it and walk down the trail:
Very quickly after crossing the bridge (within 30 yards) you will come to this sign:
The egg is behind a clump of trees to the right of that sign. walk past it and turn to your right:
At the base of a tree, the pouch is under a piece of wood: Now you see it,
Now you don't:
If I made this too difficult, tough! Enjoy your ride! |

Damn! I was there just three weeks ago. Walked right by that very sign. Nice job, and choice place for a drop. It's a really nice place to ride.

Hey, I was there just last week! Seems Egg is following me around, now. I guess he must want another crack at my whisky!
![]() Careful, though, if this trend continues whoever picks him up next will have a final drive failure on their way home. The drive belt on the Uly snapped this evening, ~200 miles from home, just short of the end of a 5500 mile trip. D'oh!

Great spot for the tag. Contemplating a ride for the grab this weekend. 1,121 miles from my current location and another 350 miles to my destination from the campground.
