Just a few miles from the 1st Monument built (1827) to the 1st President of the United States stands this Monument honoring the War Correspondents from the Civil War (built in 1896). You can go there at night but watch out as that Blair Witch might wander up the hill into the park.
![]() I wanted to use the 1st mentioned monument but there's no way to get the bike close enough to it for a photo, but I encourage anyone who's coming for this one to go there as well...... if you have the time there is so much to see in this area from the Civil War and before you could spend a few days just seeing it all. Some more info - the tag is 50' tall and 40' wide and the other Monument I couldn't use as a tag is 54' round at the bottom and is 30' tall.

Mike -
I'm surprised. I thought you were going to go for doubles with the Maryland Tag. So close but the street is slick with snow in Damascus, so I can guess what the mountain is like right now. Bob |

If I would have left the house a bit earlier I would have, plus the last 2 miles were so bad it took me about 45 min extra. I'm guessing it would have been as bad or worse up on Savage as it is about at the same elevation.....

Sorry for the delay...
I had a little technical malfunction, its amazing how much I rely on the Garmin, especially after it goes TU.
New Tag: ![]() Located on my home away from home and yet I have yet to pay a visit to the inside.

New Tag
![]() Same State further west, Near a famous hole in the ground. I was going to use the hole as the tag but then heard this 47 Bell Carillon playing across the street. This was dedicated in 1937.

Nope that one looks way different and is to the east if you mean this one- http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...postcount=4301
I've been trying to find a defenitive number of how many freestanding Carillions there are in North America. There is a total of 179 in all including the ones that are a part of the steeple.... but only a small portion of those are stand alone. I do know of one pretty close to me and there is one near you as well. One thing playing this has helped me to do is take notice of the things around me and appriciate them for what they are.... there are many covered and stone arch bridges in my area and I've never really thought about it but theses things are truly art when you stop and look at them. Thank you ADVrider.
