Ladies and gents... the BMW 1000RR

Here are the first pics of the actual road bike. She arrives in Europe this summer, and get this: Euro 15,150!

That's way less than most would have expected (of course, this being BMW, there are probably going to be 243 "optional features" to bump the price up a good bit, but still).

A few more bits of info:

Dry Weight: 183kg (good ordinarily, but amazing if you consider what comes standard)
ABS standard - it is settable to 4 different levels of action: off ... max
Traction Control standard
Around 190 hp

Good for BMW... gotta admire the Germans for making (and selling) more and more bikes:

No, it does not work like that. A Yamaha R1 is 16.000 Euros in Italy... bikes are priced much higher in EU than in the US. This BMW will probably (speculation ahead) be priced around $13,000 in the US, right there with the Japanese liter bikes (with the addition of ABS and DTC standard!), and well below Ducati, Aprilia, KTM, etc.

I think these are going to sell like hot cakes in Europe.

I really like the looks of that thing. I like it much better than the earlier, all-carbon fiber race bike pics.

BMW has been hinting that the bike would be competitive with the Japanese literbikes from a price standpoint, and it looks like it might be.

I'd like to see Corser and Xaus ride the wheels off of it in WSB.

I really want to try one of these out. I haven't been very interested in the Japanese liter bikes, especially as I don't fit on them very well. However, I've had really good luck with BMW. This has got me thinking I need to turn in the R1100S Boxer Prep. This price is great with ABS and traction control standard.

Bloodworth BMW, here in Nashville will let you test ride anything they've got. I bet you this baby's going to see a lot of demo time.

I like the underbelly exhaust can, seems like a Buell engineering concept had finally been recognized to maintream. BTW, it is the BMW S1000RR.

These photos make it look way, way, better than previous shots. Hopefully the price is as low as we've been speculating...

I can't wait to read a shoot out or two between this years liter bikes, or at least the RSV4, R1, and S1000RR. Interesting and sexy bikes.

Looks pretty good, and some useful tech (traction control/ABS) for the money. If it performs to specification and is $13-14k or so, I think it will be a big US seller as well.

For reference- what the Euro price of something like the CBR1000RR, GSXR1000, or new Yamaha R1? Also Ducati 1198?

I'm not crazy about the styling, but it looks like a very serious motorcycle.

I'm willing to bet the exhaust weighs a ton too. A set of Termis or Akrapovics maybe?
could fix that.

The blade, gixxer, and R1 are all in the £9500-£10000 mark in the UK. The BMW looks to be priced right in there.

Love the swingarm.

I think they will sell a bundle; litre-bike enthuiasts are notoriously fickle, and will buy the sexy beast rather than remain loyal to one brand.

183kg and 190bhp? That's some power to weight!
