New BMW SCT800 Superscooter?

Are you ready for this?????????

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Ne...?&R=EPI-105947

This is a new BMW scooter design. It's equipped with a front twin 800cc 4V engine with more than 70 CV.

It mounts 16" wheels of wide section and adopts the telelever front suspension and a monoshock absorber under the motor rear.

It aims to be most sophisticated superscooter on the market and will be able to have a large range of exclusive accessories.

Wow, that looks nice. Wonder how the tranny will function. Also doesnt look like much underseat storage. Hope they dont make it just a step through motorcycle.

Welp - I can diggit, but man, if it is from "Break My Wallet" it might be a bit oversung and well, too expensive.

I hope the capacities, ease of maintenance, performance, layout, design, and regular "plebeian" sort of "fix its and repairs" can be done in a regular guys carport -- without voiding some sort of weird teutonic warranty. It does look like it has ABS...

Bring it under or around 12 grandish, give some farkles that all of us up in the luxo-scoots have to screw on ourselves, and they may have a desirable scoot-tourer.

I'll keep my antennas up.

At $7995 with ABS, what the Honda DN-01 should have been.

$7995??? That's actually a reasonable price...the Burgman 650 Exec is more than that...if that is really going to be the price, they'll sell a pile of them...

However, knowing BMW, my guess is that it will be about $12K, as mentioned earlier, and will require valve adjustments and other detailed maintenance every 3000 miles at $400 a pop....

I hope I'm wrong, because I really want to like this bike....

Its a $8k bike with a $6k transmission. I predict this Beemer scoot will be over priced, over rated, and over complicated. Imagine that. Status quo.

Hi all, long time lurker here.

I really don't think this is for real. Google Oberdan Bezzi. You'll see his name on all kinds of two wheeled design studies.

Yup. Photoshop fantasist. Still hope BM do have something like this up their sleeves. I enjoyed the day i spent with a Gilera GP800 last year. Be nice to have something similar with half decent back up.

Okay, while we're mentally photoshopping...

I'd like an MP3-800...with a little more damping on the front end, the internal storage capacity of the MP3-250, belt instead of chain like the big Gilera, and some of the features of the Burgman 650 incl. ABS.

For $7995. (or hell, 5 bucks, as long as we're dreaming)

OR...if Honda had real underseat capacity on the DN-01 and sold it for $6995. (or 5 bucks)

I think the cool thing is that we did end up with some fine bikes to choose from between the T-Max, Burgman, MP3, etc.

But I imagine this is a really tough time for manufacturers to sense where the public *may* be going in terms of wants but can't because of the economy...so even if they did bring a good product to market, it may sit on the dealership floor.

Wow. I will wait for the GS version, anybody know when that one is gonna be at the dealers?

Looks like photoshop to me. Look at the saddle and rear bodywork. The front end looks downsized to match.

Feh. And if BMW makes a scooter, their riders prolly won't wave back either.
