I am an old guy and I guess I wasn't interested in big power anymore or the latest in high tech suspension. Just a simple bike I can ride in the dirt. Just ordered bigger jets and a unifilter and plan on doing the gordon mods - for the third time. Looking forward to getting the little beast out in the dirt.
Probably showing my Noobishness here, but whhat are the "gordon mods'?

My XR250R

Heres my bike when I got it off Craigslist in the summer of 2012.

Here it is after my buddy, Kasdon Dorrough rebuilt the engine.

A closeup of the engine now...

And maybe followed up with a .357! That was damned funny, especially
since it was not me being attacked. Gives new meaning to ATGATT!!

Don't know what happened, but the program had me quote the wrong
message. Obviously I was talking about the ram attack.

Just looked odd to me. Your pic of the brand new '98 with the mirror, large headlight (vs small light) and tag bracket seems odd too. Street legal parts on a bike with knobbies? At least in the states, I never thought the 250r was street legal and not sure that's a US spec bike. Of course I could be wrong. Happens all the time.

Anyway, looks good and I'd ride it.

Loading up the 250

Anyone do any lengthy off-road touring on their 250? Wondering how you loaded the bike up and what luggage you used. I have settled back into an XR after 400's, 510's, 600's, 650's, etc. I like the smaller size for trails but also have grand visions of a longer trip - including camping gear. Any pics, tips or stories are appreciated.
