My Calsci windsheild
So far this is my favorite for touring or commuting. I havent been off road with it yet. Ive had the KTM touring and the CeeBaily on my bike. The KTM touring, well it just plain sucked. The CeeBaily was much better but Im 6'2" and the wind seemed to hit me at about nose level. Also I couldnt turn my bars from stop to stop without the hand gaurds hitting the sheild.
I have a Renazco seat so I sit a little higher than stock seat height. I picked up a large sheild from Mark and installed it with no problem. Took it out for the 100 mph test and noticed the wind hit me right in the eyes. Took my bike down there the next day and exchanged it for a extra large. Yeah its a bit taller but it works. I like it. The wind goes right over my head and the side wind hits just about in the bicepts elbow area. No buffering, quiet, comfortable ride. I will have my wife on the back this weekend so I will report back with her findings. Id post some pictures but I can seem to do it on this web site. I will try and get some posted on http://www.ktmtalk.com/ in the LC8 section. Mark took some pictures of my bike so Im sure he has a few. Here is his website. http://www.calsci.com/ Great product, Great price, Great service. |

I like this guy's site -- even learned a few things from it. I might have to call him on his offer to explain the LaPlace transform used to determine the shape of his windshields.
I'll keep my ears open for more reviews, but I foresee a Calsci in my future.....once I figure out where my coolant's going. ![]()

I had a Cal Sci windshield on my VStrom 1000 and was EXTREMELY pleased with it!!!
Wind and wind turbulence noise was almost non existent even up to 120 mph... Not that I ever went that fast... $bob$

Very Happy!
Thanks Helmet Head for posting the pictures.
Well I got a ride in yesterday with my wife on the back. Honestly I think it worked even better with her on the back. Huge difference on the freeway that even my wife noticed. The wind just seemed to go over and around us in some way, kind of hard to explain but a very noticable difference from the other sheilds mentioned. 2 thumbs up! |

Jak does yours fit as per the standard one; it appears to in the photos? On the Calsci site it only appears to be half as deep as the standard one therefore not using all the original mounting points. Hope that makes sense!
Makes it look, IMHO, somewhat unfinished. Regards Bob

You are correct. You only use the top 4 mounting holes. I was a little concerned about that as well but its very solid. Ive done the 100mph test with no problem at all.
Im sure you can smoke a cigg at 100mph behind this sheild but I dont smoke so I cant prove that. |

JAK, you mentioned that you purchased the taller one. Can you elaborate on the height and width in inches please...measure from the top of your light to the top of the shield for height.
Also, since we all have different torso lengths; Im 6'1" and when sitting on a solid surface and running a tape measure from the seat, next to my crotch to the top of my head I measure 37 inches. What is you measurment? This will help me to buy the correct size the first time. Thank JAK.
