Wow, great pics, John. Wish my father weren't too old to ride with me.

Wish my father had a bike to ride with me at all. Lucky guy you are, thanks for the pics.

Which oil is best?

Just kidding. Wondering if anyone can say if there is enough room to use a 3.25" oil filter on the 6th Gen VFR (M1-110, to be exact). Doing my first oil change on this girl tomorrow and figured I'd ask the collective before heading to the store.

And some pictures for good measure:

Biddeford Pool, Maine

Red River Gorge, Kentucky, about 4 days later

The Shinkos were fine. 4000 miles later and they still look new. They do take a bit more to turn in, and once they do they are happy there, but it takes some getting used. I did have a complete electrical failure in rural Indiana (A big to Cycles 128 in Beverly for not getting the recall done in time), but thanks to all knowing VFRD, I was able to fix it in no time and be on my way.

Fired up my 92 yesterday after sitting almost a year. I need to sell it, but every time I hear that engine, I put it off!

Just got my mitts on a "gently used" 2000 VFR in the fastest color... Yellow! Flying banana! Ive done a little research and can't see a good frame slider available. I know the radiators are in the way but someone must have an idea as to a cheap frame slider for a 5th gen.

Just sit up and drive. VFR's open to all "street" conditions.

There really isn't one, unless someone's come up with it in the last couple of years.

Back when everyone on the VFRList was looking, you either got the design which mounts the sliders on a bracket (so you don't have to drill your fairings), or you drill your fairings and replace/relocate/drill your coolant overflow bottle. The bracket designs had a reputation for bending radiators in crashes (because the slider slider pokes out of the hole in the fairing for the radiator, and pressure on the slider pushes it's bracket into the radiator).

While it requires drilling your fairings,R&G racing's kit is (IIRC) high quality, and the holes are hidden after you're done (unlike the Thurn motorsports sliders on my VFR750 :( ). It appears to include the replacement coolant bottle required, as well.

Did a little dirt riding myself in Idaho. West of Cascade Lake North of Boise off of RT55. My KLR would have been better as they wet down the road later to cut the dust....eeek! But the VFR rules on tarmac.

I think you'll be SOL on the long filter. If I remember correctly there will be a coolant or oil hose that gets in the way.

Congrats on your new ride!!
I got my sliders from a guy on VFRD who made sliders, but he's stopped producing them. If you want to add them, you don't want cheap. Best option now are the R&Gs, which also use the engine mounting bolt as their anchors. Drilling the bodywork only hurts for a minute, and they've saved me from additional pain a couple of times.
