The tire has seen a few more rides since.. Traction isn't an issue unless I get in mud, and I hate mud so I avoid it as much as I can. Then earlier this week I thought "Maybe I should change that tire for the next ride", then it snowed...

I thought it would be great just to use as storage till spring, but now I'm looking to ride again.. haha.

Also figured I could do a good cleaning before storage this weekend, but that likely won't happen as long as I have a chance to turn it's wheels!

Not sure where to ride this weekend. I get tired of doing the same stuff over and over but there is Bar C area, or Mclean. I'd sooner do trails. Powderface is likley closed now?

BTW, what's wrong with the clutch? They are pretty simple to work on. Just some springs, plates, fibers, and a few peices that hold them together.

My bike is hard to shift into neutral and it lurches forward when I start it with the clutch in. Also when I dump the clutch to lift the front end it doesn't feel right. I thought the adjustment was right but the shop said it was wrong. Maybe that is all that is wrong, I hope so. I have seen guys post about a tool share/bike working party. That would be great for a noob like me.

Clutch plates can warp. Another issue is they sometimes wear the basket causing the area where they "slide" to groove and not fully disengage. This can be "helped" by filing the grooves flat, but at one point you have to start looking into a new basket. (hinson, etc. Not cheap)

Sounds like the clutch is dragging a bit though for sure. Strange that you're having the issue though. I have yet to even look at my clutch and it's both seen a lot of miles, and a lot of abuse. I've gotten lazy and often slip the clutch rather then change gears because of the short ratio gear box. Pops out of corners real well when you release a 650!

I've had both a RM250 and YZ125 have clutch issues though. My KTM 250XC was good but worn when I sold it and needing replacement.

For adjustment, the lever should have some play (usually spec'd around 1cm at the tip of the lever).

I'd do tool parties, but my garage isn't big enough. lol.

According to this site: http://www.braggcreek.ca/kananaskis/outdoor.htm December 1st is when it closes. I thought it was end of October.

Next week looks good, weather-wise so the big clean can probably hold off a bit longer yet. Last year my last ride was October 31st. I hope to beat that this season, but bike-commuting will end sooner.

Powderface will be open at least until the hunting season is over....December anyways...looking to hit it at least one more time myself although depends on the weather usually better traveled Sibbald to little Elbow direction once theres snow on the north facing hills as I find going up the ice is less hazardness than going down them at least for me

Anybody headed out this afternoon?
I might do Powderface or the Transalta or something longer if time allows.
My window is from about 12 to 5 so I'm open to anything else as well (McLean, Ghost...)

I might be willing to do Mclean or Wiaprous, but 4 hours is cutting it a bit short for me. (I'm not ready to leave yet).

If not I might be going out tomorrow than. Probably poke around Bar C / Wiaprous area just to get out of the city. Ppl welcome to join.

Awesome conditions on both Powderface and the road up Moose Mtn. Powderface was the smoothest I've ever seen it. Mostly dirt with only a few patches of gravel. A few wet spots, snow at the top of moose and some snow remaining at the bottom of the big hill on PF.
Lots of people out today. Good riding but really fn windy...
Next week may be our last if the weathernetwork actually knows what's coming...

Nice riding today

Took a little spin south and west of the city. Found a little stretch of Green lane on 48th south of town, making for a nice little short cut. Found icy roads in a couple of short sections about 5 km north of the 532 connector on the trunk road (940). Managed to tip-toe across each without any drama.

Decent Elevation for the middle of October and still passable.

Lets ride then!!

Noonish works for me. I'll try getting up at a decent hour since I caught up last night. Bike is pretty much ready minus gas. This time of year I really wish I still had a jacket but will layer up. Try to find my balaclava in my camping gear.

BarC area?

You always find the coolest places to ride. It is nice that you post pictures of it.
